Chapter Text
Eons ago, before Earth and Hell came into existence, Heaven was the only realm that existed. It was home to beautiful divine beings known as angels. Among them was Lucifer, an angel gifted with the brightest mind of all. He was entrusted with shaping the landscapes of Heaven and breathing life into its creatures, crafting each one with extraordinary perfection. His creations came so close to divine beauty, earning him the name “Light Bringer.”
But even so, some angels grew dissatisfied with his creations and began to create something of their own — humans, the first beings fashioned from angelic dust. Lucifer had already warned them that such a creation would disrupt the delicate balance of the ecosystem. Yet they ignored his warnings. He could only watch as they strayed further from his vision, his frustration growing with each passing moment.
Then came the first two humans, born with opposing natures: Adam and Lilith. They were innocent, curious, and fragile creatures. Adam's first instinct was to obey his creators, while Lilith questioned everything without hesitation. To Adam, obedience was sacred. To Lilith, nothing was beyond question. Their differences soon became a source of conflict, until Adam began to dominate her, believing that his obedience to divine law gave him the right to rule over her.
Feeling restricted and unheard, Lilith refused to submit to the divine command that she marry Adam. She fled the Garden of Eden, choosing exile over a life dictated by another's will.
By coincidence, Lucifer happened to see Lilith during one of his casual walks through the Garden. He found her sitting alone, crying. Though he despised humans, he still had a sense of compassion. Seeing her in such distress when everything seemed perfectly fine, he approached her to find out what had happened and listened to her grievances. As she spoke, he found himself drawn to her desire for freedom and her wish to make her own choices.
The more time they spent together, the more they grew attached to each other, finding comfort in sharing their thoughts and understanding one another. Eventually, they could not stay there for long and had to return to Eden. Lucifer promised Lilith that he would speak on her behalf and make sure her feelings and thoughts were heard.
However, upon their return, Lilith was devastated to discover that she had already been replaced by another woman, Eve. Adam had appealed to the angels, claiming that Lilith had been difficult to live with and abandoned him because of her defiance and constant questioning. Unlike Lilith, Eve was gentle, submissive, and obedient, making her much easier for Adam and the angels to accept.
For the first time, Lilith feared that she would simply be erased and forgotten when the angels no longer had any reason to keep her.
Lucifer found the angels' decision utterly ridiculous. They had favored Adam without a second thought, while treating Lilith as a problem. Yet there was little he could do to change their minds, and the angels ultimately left Lilith under Lucifer's protection, making him responsible for her. Even with Lucifer by her side, Lilith still could not shake the feeling that she had been thrown away. Being replaced and fear that she no longer had a place in Heaven.
Over time, Lilith learned of the Forbidden Fruit through Lucifer. He warned her never to eat it, give it away, or take it, knowing what would happen if the humans broke the command. Yet the knowledge gave them an idea. As Lilith's resentment toward the angels continued to grow, she and Lucifer began to see an opportunity. Lucifer had never accepted the existence of humans. To him, they were an imperfection that had been allowed to spread within Heaven, disrupting the balance he had worked so carefully to create. He began to believe that humanity was like an infection — something that had to be removed before Heaven could be restored to its former perfection. Together, they devised a plan to bring humanity to fall. Lilith approached Eve and offer her the Forbidden Fruit, disguising it as a simple gift.
Eve, who was still a newly created human, was easily deceived by her lack of knowledge. She ate the fruit gradually, believing that Lilith had finally accepted her as one of her own. Little did she know that the simple gift would bring about the doom of both her and Adam.
Rules were rules. No matter how favored one was, anyone who broke them had to be judged and held responsible for their actions. And so, Adam and Eve were cast down to Earth.
Lilith, however, was cast into Hell, a realm where discarded darkness was said to reside. Lucifer tried to follow her, but the angels restrained him with divine bindings. In the end, he tore himself free by severing his connection to divine power and chose to abandon Heaven’s laws, falling into the abyss after Lilith.
During the descent, he was burned and shattered as his wings, face, and legs were destroyed, while much of his divine power was sacrificed to shield Lilith from the worst of the fall, leaving him unable to fully regenerate by the time they reached the abyss.
From that moment on, Lucifer and Lilith swore to never return to Heaven. United by their hatred and the pain they had endured, they vowed to create a world where no one could control or cast them aside again. Together, they rebuilt the forsaken abyss into their own kingdom, eventually becoming the rulers of Hell called the Morningstars.
And that was how the beginning of Hell came to an end.
Charlie closed the book she had been reading as the great bell rang from the tallest tower in the center of Pentagram City, Ring of Pride. She moved the curtain aside with her pale white fingers and peered out at the chaotic massacre unfolding beyond her window.
The clock had struck twelve, marking the beginning of a new year. Below, reapers pulled their spears from the bodies of their prey, their weapons stained with fresh blood. One by one, they took to the sky, joining the swarm of angels circling the clock tower and its enormous bell. Then, as suddenly as they had appeared, the angels vanished together through a giant, shining portal that opened above the tower.
Hell returned to its usual darkness as the red moon once again shone across the Ring.
Piles of corpses were scattered throughout the town—on the streets, across benches, on rooftops, and in every other possible place. It was an unpleasant reminder of the genocide that had just taken place. But for Hell, it was simply another ordinary sight.
As the storm passed, the sinners slowly emerged from their homes. They stepped through pools of blood and began cleaning up their properties, while others simply did nothing. It was Hell. They could do whatever they wanted. Some even collected the corpses and sold them to Cannibal Town.
Hell was the worst place anyone could possibly call home.
It was Hell…
“Charlie,” said Vaggie from across the room. She slowly walked toward her dolly-faced girlfriend, who was still sitting by the bay window with a book on her lap. “Still reading that book again?”
Charlie gave her a smile as she got up from her comfortable spot.
“Yeah. It always brings me peace and lifts my spirits, especially on this day.”
Vaggie smiled back. Seeing her girlfriend in such high spirits gave her hope, too.
“All right, don’t lose that spirit anytime soon. The car’s ready. We gotta go before that stupid news studio changes its mind.”
“Okie dokie!”
Charlie followed beside Vaggie as they headed toward the door, slipping her arm around hers and leaning against her shoulder. Vaggie glanced at her with a small smile, clearly used to Charlie's clinginess.
Together, they left the room and walked side by side down the hallway, staying close as they stepped into the bloodstained lobby where a black limousine waited outside for them.
