Work Text:

In the Fall of her second year in Pelican Town, the new farmer has managed to restore her grandfather’s land to the thriving farm it had once been under the man’s loving touch and dedicated care. She now has sprawling fields of crops, a huge coop filled with chickens, ducks, and rabbits, a large barn complete with loveable cows, goats, and sheep, and her loyal German Shepherd mix Ace on her homestead. The brunette farmer truly has created a wonderous life for herself after escaping the corporate slog she had found herself trapped in, especially with her recent marriage to Elliott.

“Beloved, Leah and Harvey are here!” the writer calls from their cozy living room and the farmer can hear the old farmhouse door shutting behind them.

Ace barks happily, always excited when friends come over to visit their small family.

“Coming!” she calls as she exits her and Elliott’s bedroom.

A pleased smile overtakes her lips as she’s embraced quickly by Leah before receiving a small hug from Harvey.

“I’m so glad you two could make it!” the farmer grins widely, grabbing a few wine glasses from the cabinet, her blue eyes shining in anticipation. “I have quite the treat for you both,” she continues, sitting down on the couch as Elliott sets several bottles of wine on the oak coffee table.

“How exciting!” Harvey beams, taking a seat in one of Elliott’s preferred armchairs, adjusting his glasses slightly. “Whatever do you have in store for us?” he questions, his gaze locking in on the table’s spread.

“Is that artisanal wine I spy?” Leah curiously asks, settling on the other side of the couch opposite the farmer.

“Indeed!  She’s been working hard to craft it in the new shed Robin built for us,” Elliott beams with pride, pressing a light kiss to the crown of the farmer’s head before he snuggles in beside her, Ace sitting contentedly at their feet.

“Surprise! Who better to test my newest product on than the two of you wine enthusiasts?” the farmer reveals, smiling widely at two of her closest friends as she begins pouring the wine.

She hands Elliott a glass filled with pomegranate wine, Leah a glass of cranberry, and blackberry for Harvey. The farmer had been careful to avoid using stores of her blueberries, rhubarb, salmonberries, and spice berries so as not to offend the delicate taste buds of the town’s doctor and writer. However, she couldn’t resist trying the cranberry as a possibility for a seasonal wine, seeing the potential in great profits from that particular flavor combination. The quartet of friends clink their glasses together before they take small, appreciative sips of the various offered wines.

“Oh, this is delicious! Thank you!” Leah beams, happiness coloring every inch of her face.

“Truly splendid!” Harvey agrees, pouring himself another glass.

“You’ve outdone yourself, love,” Elliott proudly whispers in his wife’s ear, tenderly kissing her mouth, the writer’s cheeks already tinged pink.

“I’m happy you all approve,” the farmer blushes.

Author's Note: Here's a little brand-new story for you all on this Friday! I found the word "wines" in the scramble and knew immediately this needed to be a little Stardew snippet. Despite the fact that I haven't played much Stardew Valley yet (I'm still on Summer Year One), I can definitely see this scene playing out between the farmer, Elliott, Harvey, and Leah in the farmhouse. I hope you all enjoyed and until next time, dear readers! Have a wonderful day, afternoon, or night!
