Summary
Ilya’s staring at who he believes to be the love of his life and the love of his life is staring at a stranger. Being at this banquet was a mistake. Shane Hollander is docile when it comes to things like fate but headstrong in every other way. Ilya has known him since he was seventeen or maybe since the creation of the world. Built between each rib, their bond is just as sacred as it is borrowed. The stranger reaches out and grips Shane’s arm. Ilya turns to leave because he thinks this isn’t what love should feel like. He remembers summer and just how freeing it was to be with a boy who he had not yet lost to hockey.
