Summary
Calpurnia Caligari, born Emily Kushner in Tolland, Connecticut, has always dreamt of being a witch, destined to something more exciting than her dull suburban surroundings, longing for supernatural powers and exoteric knowledge.
Unfortunately a sudden, trivial accident strikes her in the prime of her life. Being a Witch she ends up in Hell. This is the story of what happens to her after she dies.
Two main trigger warnings:
1) explicit and sometimes gory stuff happens, but there are certain lines I won't cross, and I kept the whole story light hearted and silly more than plain horrifying. I really like the main character and I hope you do too.
2) the infernal setting is explicitly inspired by Dante's Inferno, which means I've borrowed, at least in part, from medieval Catholic theology and eschatology. None of this is intended as disrespect toward Christians, Wiccans (in this universe, witches really have made a pact with the Devil, and the Horned One is a demon rather than an ancient pagan fertility god—but that reflects the internal logic of the setting, not my personal beliefs), or followers of any other religion.
