Work Text:
The cool autumn breeze ruffled his short, dark brown hair as Logan stepped out of his car. The smell of rain lingered in the air indicating a storm to come. The car door shut behind him as he shoulder his work bag and made his way to the house.
He was first greeted with the glorious smell of garlic then the warmth of the house washed over him and he immediately felt his shoulders relaxing as he stepped inside, closing the door carefully behind him. He untied his shoes and them, as well as his work bag, on the shoe rack before stepping fully into the house.
He made his way through the quiet living room and into the conjoined dining room and kitchen. A small smile crossed his face as he saw Patton standing by the stove, humming quietly to himself as he made whatever he was cooking. Patton loved cooking and baking, Logan on the other hand... was never great at it the most he could make was pancakes and that's only because Patton had taught him, so Patton was usually the one to make dinner unless it was the weekend then they usually just ordered pizza or ate leftovers.
Logan strolled up behind Patton silently and wrapped his arms around him from behind, resting his chin on Patton's shoulder. He felt Patton jump and then lean into him once he realized who it was. "What are you making?" he asked as he watched Patton cut up Scallions. "Parmesan chicken." Patton replied cheerfully "How was work?" Logan sighed heavily and pressed his forehead to Patton's shoulder. "That bad, huh?"
It had been a long day trying to teach rowdy 9th graders algebra. He loved his students but they could be so unruly sometimes especially right before school break. "They were loud today." Logan grumbled, his voice slightly muffled by the cardigan that was always tied around Patton's shoulders. The sound of a knife on a cutting board stopped and he felt a hand start combing through his hair causing a smile to touch his lips.
"Awe, I'm sorry" Patton said and moved to sprinkle the Scallions on the chicken that sat in a white cooking dish. Logan reluctantly loosened his hold around Patton's waist but still kept his head resting on Patton's shoulder. "At least you'll have a break for a week."
"Yes, I suppose that's true..." Logan sighed and straightened. He walked over to one of the cupboards and started taking out plates to help set the table. "But, I still have to catch up on grading."
"Oh, please, you're not going to tell me you haven't done all your grading already." Patton scoffed playfully as Logan set out three dishes on the dining room table. "I have done most of it, yes, but there is still plenty more to do." Logan replied.
Patton chuckled and walked to the dining room entrance. "Virgil! Dinner's ready!" he called up the stairs then turned to Logan. "I'm still going to make you sit down and have a movie day with me and Virge." Logan smiled and kissed Patton on the cheek. "I know, I anticipated it and made room in my schedule."
Patton beamed at him with that radiant smile on his face which turned into a playful grin. "You missed." he stated. Logan's brow furrowed in confusion. "What-?" Before he could finish his sentence Patton pulled him into a kiss with his tie. "You missed." Patton repeated when he pulled away.
Logan chuckled softly. "And you, are a nuisance." he said affectionately and returned the kiss. Patton giggled "I think you mean precious."
"A precious nuisance."
"Ew, gross! Get a room." Virgil's voice cut in, making them both jump. Patton laughed and grinned over at Virgil "Look who finally decided to leave their room."
"I wish I didn't."
Logan raised an eyebrow. "Surely you are used to this by now."
"That doesn't mean I need to see you two be all lovey dovey with each other all the time."
Patton gave Logan another peck on the lips before pulling back to go get the chicken still sitting on the stove and bringing it over to the table. Logan smiled as he watched Patton and Virgil argue about PDA as they all sat down to eat.
Logan never thought he would ever have a family, let alone one like this, but he was content to live out the rest of his life like this.
