So he did.
Every time he slept, he started to ignore them. He fled and watched them all. All his soulmates (ew why did he have so many). He’d listen to them talk. The first week they looked for him. And then they talked about how worried they were. And then they forgot him.

Virgil get told soulmates are stupid all his life, so he avoided them. Even when he met them. (But unluckily (luckily?) they didn’t give up so easy)OR OR

So a 6-year-old walks into a bar.
What would be the start of a fucked up joke was now Remus's reality. He was a father, a father to a kindergartner who sat on a way to tall bar stool in a duck raincoat. Did he know how to be a dad? God no? Did he want to? Unsure, but the hot librarian seemed to know what the fuck he was doing, which was good enough for him.
Now battling being a first-time parent/ single parent, overdue bills, a custody battle, estranged relationships, and the foreclosure of his family's business. Remus isn't even sure if he can do it at this point, but it was worth a shot.
