“You didn't have to stay back you know”
Jay leans against the monastery's kitchen doorway watching as Kai makes coffee
He notes the fact that he's been pacing a lot but decides to either let Kai say what's wrong himself or ask later
Kai shrugs “I don't mind, I've already done my part earlier today”
He walks closer to Jay His eyes raking over the other boys expression to make sure that he isn't in pain
He probably is but he wants to know if its really bad
“And I don't like night patrol anyways”
Jay nods “yeah night patrol sucks, you can still do your own thing though”
He shrugs
“You don't have to babysit me”
The fire ninja raises an eyebrow “babysit you?”
He smiles a pitying smile
“You're gonna have to unpack that wound” he points at the bandages around Jay's abdomen and waist
“And I figured you don't want to do that alone”
Jay pauses for a second “no!”
He clears his throat and stands up straight “I mean, yeah sure you can be there”
Kai raises an eyebrow
“You think I'm just gonna watch? I'll help don't worry”
He grabs Jays arm leaving the coffee on the counter and drags him to his room
“We'll do it in my room, if you bleed on my bed it wont be noticeable because almost everything's red”
The auburn haired boy rolls his eyes “I wont bleed” he looks down at the bandages as he lets Kai guide him “at least I hope I wont”
Kai kicks the door to his room open making some of the paint that's already peeling off fall to the floor
“I'll need to stitch it too”
He turns back to Jay “you're ok with that, right?”
Jay hesitates; he's not ok with stitches in general but forces himself to nod “Yeah….”
The brown haired boy smiles “trust me I know how to do stitches"
They walk into the room and Kai points at the bed “lie down”
He watches as Jay lies down on the bed before he walks over to the shelf where he keeps his med kit
There's get well stickers covering most parts of the metal box
Jay raises an eyebrow at this "what's up with the stickers?”
Kai smiles “when Lloyd was thunder and needed plasters and stuff Cole would give him stickers and then he would stick them onto this because he was scared that he would lose them”
“Aww, thats cute”
Jay smiles a teasing smile up at Kai “and you just let him?”
The fire ninja nods
“Yeah, is that so hard to believe?”
Jay gives Kai a look which makes Kai smile
“We both know that you weren't really approachable when you first came to the monastery, and after a while you still had a temper"
“So yeah it is kinda hard to believe”
Kai rolls his eyes playfully
“Shut up, motor mouth”
He sits beside Jay “lift your hips”
Jay does as he's told bracing himself for the pain
Sure he trusts Kai but still….
Kai gently unwraps the wound
The blood hasn't soaked through the second layer of gauze which is a good sign
“Ok, are you ready?”
“Yeah….”
Jay squeezes his eyes shut not wanting to see the wound
Kai pulls out the first layer of gauze keeping an eye on Jay reaction
“You don't have to hide if it hurts…. I'll be able to tell anyway”
Jay nods but it results in more of a jerk of the head
Hes not exactly sure what to do with his hands so he just grabs the blanket under him
“F- fuck….”
The fire ninja throws the gauze into the bin which he pulled out beside him
“Your doing good”
He pulls out the other piece of gauze “just relax”
Jay lets out a whimper “do it slowly!”
He realises that he snapped and immediately feels guilty “sorry….”
Kai shrugs
“Don't worry about it, your the one in pain not me” He puts a hand onto Jays hip angling it in a way which makes it easier for Kai to see which way would be the easiest to take out the gauze
“Dammit Ronin pressed that pretty deep”
The auburn haired boy nods
“I f- figured”
Kai looks up “you mean you felt him pressing it in this deep?”
If Jay feels uncomfortable with it in he wants to get rid of it as fast as he can
Jay shrugs “yeah”
“I assumed that the wound was so deep-”
His back arches just the slightest and he lets out a whine as Kai starts pulling out the top layer of the gauze
“That you- you could see my organs”
Kai frowns
“It wasn't that deep”
He holds the bloody gauze in his hands looking at how Jays blood makes his hands as red as his gi before throwing it into the bin
“Does it feel weird?”
Jay gives Kai a look “obviously”
Kai pokes the side of Jay’s neck where he knows the lightning ninja is ticklish
He smiles as Jay laughs
“You know what I mean, smartass”
Jay grins up at the fire ninja “yeah it does”
He points at his lower back
“My back hurts”
Kai pauses “your….back?”
Why would his back hurt? It wasn't damaged right
The lightning ninja looks at Kai confused
“I thought that it was obvious that I feel pain differently”
“My back hurts cuz Im in pain, its weird I know”
Kai pulls out more of the gauze washing as Jays back arches again
“Its not weird, I just wish you would have told me”
Jay smiles “bit late for that now right?”
The brown haired boy raises an eyebrow
“Got anything else you want to tell me?”
His hands slides to his back applying pressure that he knows helps with back pain
Jay shrugs
“I have tics when Im in pain, thats it th- though”
He stutters as the relief washes over him from the pressure on his back
Kai stays quiet for a second wondering what types of tics Jay has but is distracted by the stutter
“Does that feel good?”
He places one hand on Jay’s lower back and the other one his hip so that he's kinda straddling Jay but not actually sitting on him
Not that he cares but he likes the position they're in
And the cute noises he makes
The blue ninja nods “y- Yeah…”
“Don't stop”
Kai laughs “I'll have to stop at some point”
He slides a hand closer to the wound pressing down slightly and frowning
“You still have a wound in your stomach, remember?”
He resists the urge to kiss the other boys hip
“I'll help you with your back afterwards, I promise”
Jay frowns but nods
“Yeah, ok”
Kai smiles “there we go, now come on hold onto something because this is probably going to hurt a lot”
He pauses for a second as he feels Jays hand tighten around his bicep
At least he's looking down so Jay can't see his blush
“You ready?”
Jays hold tightens before he speaks
“Mhm… yeah”
He sounds nervous
“Ok Im gonna take out the gauze, check for bleeding, clean the wound and then stitch it”
Kai looks at Jays face making sure that hes ok with this
Jays comfort is more important than the thought of his face burning red from the blue ninjas hand on his bicep
Or maybe it's just burning red because hes the fire ninja and his body temperature went up naturally
Yeah thats what happened
