Chapter Text
(VEE POV)
One more question left, one last chance to make Scraps lose.
“Your last question is.. How does it feel to be alive?”
Wait, wait. What did I just say? I look down at my paper of trivia, and that’s when I notice it. I must’ve written that in a daze. I’d never think that.
Or would I..?
“Ahem, I meant.. What element is used in making batteries?” I ask.
“Oh, oh! It’s lithium!” Scraps replied while pressing the button.
How does she know that? Dang nabbit.
“Correct..” I replied back.
I turn to the camera. “And that wraps up our gameshow for tonight! Can’t wait to see you in the next episode!”
I stop the camera and turn to Scraps and the others.
“Now, go on. I need to do something.” I shoo them off.
As they walk off to wherever they’re going (none of my business), I look down at my script again. I don’t exactly remember that being there, my cords must be all tangled up. Speaking of that, I think my tail is tangled.
I walk into the elevator, and go up to Astro’s room.
“Astro! Are you here?” I holler. Whoops, probably scared him if he was there.
“Yes, Vee?” Astro replies to me while looking up at the stars.
“Can you help me untangle my tail? If you don’t mind, of course.”
“Oh, sure. I don’t mind.”
Astro leads me to a cozy spot with pillows and blankets.
“Lay down.” Astro says.
I nod and lay down on my stomach.
When Astro lays a hand on my back, an electric shock goes through me and I jump. Which makes Astro jump back.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
“Yeah, it was just static electricity.” I reply.
“Right.. Sorry about that.”
His hands trail down to my tail, and he starts untangling it gently.
“You feel hot, I think you’ve overworked yourself too much..” Astro says.
“Pfft, no. I’m always warm.” I reply unsurely.
That’s unusual, people say I’m usually cold. I don’t know if they mean that literally or not.
“You should probably get that checked out, that’s unusual for you.”
“Pfft, by who? There’s.. No more Toon handlers.. To help..” The smirk disappears from my face.
“Uhm.. Y’know..Maybe Sprout, or Cosmo?”
“But they don’t know anything about technology, maybe I just overexerted a little, so what?”
A moment of silence carries on for a few minutes, until..
“I’m finished untangling.” Astro whispers to me softly.
“Oh, thanks..” I reply.
“No problem, any time.” Astro says.
I sit up, and walk to the elevator, the cold A/C hitting my back as I get back into the elevator, pressing the button up to the bakery.
I step out of the elevator, and I walk around, looking at the scenery, and the pastries. Pastries. Food. I want food.
I walk up the display case, and stare. Food..
Cosmo notices me staring at the display case and speaks up.
“Uhm, are you alright?” He asks.
“Me? Yeah, totally! I’m okay!” I reply, almost slipping up on my food- Wait, I meant words.
“Ookay..” He sighs, clearly not wanting to cause an issue.
Why was I slipping up on my words? I’m a robot, of course!
“What does food taste like, Cosmo?” I ask.
“W-Well, there’s a whole lot of different foods, and most of them taste different. Why do you ask, Vee?”
“Oh, no reason. I know that already.”
Cosmo sighs again.
Sprout walks out of the kitchen, looking in between me and Cosmo.
I meet his gaze and I smirk.
“Hey, Berry-boy.” I tease.
“I told you to stop calling me that!” He yells.
So easy to tease.. Wait- that sounds kind of weird.
“So, what’re you here for, Vee? You can’t necessarily.. Eat..?” Sprout asks.
“I came here to bother you, of course.” I lie.
I really didn’t want to bother either of them, I’m just… hungry..
“If you came here to bother us, you would be a lot louder, and more confident. You’re being..quieter than usual. Is something bothering you..?” Sprout asks.
“I’m.. fine.. Just running on low battery..” I mumble.
“That’s not safe, Vee! You could knock out, fall on the floor, and break your head!” Sprout freaks out.
Cosmo (thankfully) reassures him.
“Calm down, Sprout. She’ll be okay.. It’s near midnight.”
Wait, what? How late is it..?
It’s 11:35 PM.. Geez, I got lost in time.
I still have some work I need to catch up on, but I’m soo tired..
Just.. going to rest my eyes, while standing…
…
“VEE!”
