this will be split into two acts: 0 for the non linear parts and 1 for the main story.
this au is set a month after the s4 ending, and centered around the idea of will, who had already put the town in a frenzy with his "coming back to life" act in s2, being seen as the main perpetrator of the four gates. work is mandated to keep hawkins running. the people allowed out are the adults, military, and the members of the church. the wheelers are your typical 80s american family, and that's why they're susceptible to the whole devil idea despite having known the byers family for years + why the people aren't that vigilant with mike compared to the rest of the party and why they believe he can "change."
i also kept the idea of the upside-down crawls they do during s5. the only difference is that will is kept hidden, something mike knows he despises, and that's why they sneak out to see each other when possible.balladofnomad on every social media app ever:
