Chapter Text
“Leo.”
Leo looked up from his phone, startled by the seriousness of Donnie’s voice.
“Leo, we’re staging an intervention.”
Leo sat up a little more in his beanbag.
“An intervention? For what? I’m not, like, on drugs!”
Mikey rolled his eyes. “Of course not, silly. Wait. Are you?”
Leo shook his head. Mikey sighed in relief.
Donnie tapped his fingers in his lap and cleared his throat.
“Uh, hello? People? Back to Leo. Thanks. Uh, you’ve been on your phone a lot. 3.2 times more than usual.”
Leo stared at Donnie incredulously.
“This? Coming from you? Please. Mikey, tell Donnie how delulu he sounds right now.”
Donnie turned to Mikey, who winced.
“I mean, you saying it does make it sound… Less believable.”
Donnie shook his head. “Scoff. Michael, whether I’m believable or not doesn’t matter. What I’m saying is correct, believable or not. We want to know what you could possibly be doing on there that could distract you this much.”
Leo smiled nervously. “Oh please, I’m not that distracted!”
“Leo, last week we asked you if you were gonna show up to movie night and you said you’d ‘be there eventually’” Mikey punctuated the last words with air quotes.
Donnie stepped in. “And then you never showed up.”
Leo glanced away nervously. “Can’t a guy skip movie night in peace?”
Mikey gasped offendedly. “No, you CANNOT.”
“AND we were doing a JUPITER JIM marathon.”
Raph appeared in the doorway, arms crossed. “Guys, just get to the point.”
He sighed and walked up to the group. “Long story short, Leo, you’ve been on your phone too much, so it’s either you tell us what you’re doing on there or Donnie can find out.”
Leo gasped dramatically and cradled his phone to his plastron. “Never. It’s my phone.”
Donnie raised one Sharpie eyebrow. “Pray tell, Nardo, when has that stopped me?”
Leo looked away. “No…”
He perked up. “BUT! Donnie can die trying, I’m sleeping with this thing.”
And with that, Leo leapt out of the beanbag and dodged his brothers’ various attempts to catch him before scampering out of the door.
Raph watched Leo leave and dragged a hand across his face. “God…”
Two Days Later…
Mikey’s pencil scratching filled the room as Donnie did… Whatever Donnie does on his phone. They can never tell.
Suddenly, Donnie got up and walked over to Mikey as quickly as he could.
“Mikey… Mikey.” Donnie grabbed Mikey’s shoulder with one hand, the other still holding his phone, and shook.
“HEY! You messed it up!” Mikey grabbed an eraser and rubbed at the wobbly, off-centre line he’d drawn.
“Hmm? Oh, sorry, Michael. It’s just… I found out what Leo’s been doing on his phone!”
Mikey finished erasing the line and immediately turned to look at Donnie.
“Wait, really? How?”
Donnie raised an eyebrow. “Is that really a question you want me to answer, or…?”
Mikey winced and shook his head. “Actually, I’d rather not. But what was he doing?”
Donnie grinned mischievously. “Well, dear brother, it seems that Leo has been texting a boy.”
Raph burst in the room. “LEO’S BEEN TEXTING WHO?”
Donnie glanced at the phone again, reading information off it. “Apparently, he’s been texting a certain “Yuichi Usagi,” but our dear brother has him saved as “bunny boy” in his contacts.”
“BUNNY BOY?” Mikey shot up, eyes sparkling. “I KNOW WHO THAT IS!”
Raph pushed Mikey back into his seat. “Who?”
“He’s the rabbit that works at Run of the Mill! Y’know, the one Leo likes to talk to all the time?”
One Day Later…
Leo smiled at his phone. My god, that goddamned-
“Ahem.”
“Agh!” Leo dropped his phone, fumbling to catch it before it hit the ground. He just narrowly managed to swoop underneath it, holding the device up in triumph before noticing his brothers.
“Wait- wait- wait, aren’t you guys supposed to be out? Like, skateboarding?”
Mikey downed a glass of water and shrugged. “We were, but we got distracted.”
“By what- ohhhh shit.” Leo’s confusion slowly morphed to horror, and shot up off the sofa almost immediately.
“Uh, um, I… I have to go toilet! Right!” He checked to make sure he had his phone in hand, then dashed… in completely the wrong direction.
Donnie stared after him. “Who brings their phone into the bathroom?”
Mikey got as close to the living room door as possible, listening to Leo on the phone with someone in the kitchen.
“Psst. Guys. Over here.” He beckoned for Raph and Donnie to come over, pressing his ear more against the wall.
Donnie and Raph obliged, joining Mikey and pressing themselves against the wall.
Leo was audibly pacing, and whisper-shouting at someone on the other end frantically.
“No, no, no, you can’t come here, they’re here! What? No, leave, then!”
Donnie, Raph, and Mikey exchanged questioning looks with each other, and Donnie looked as if he was going to say something before-
Knock knock knock.
A voice echoed from the door Donnie had insisted on installing. It was polite, cheerful, and definitely not female.
“Hello? Leo said you guys would be home?”
