Summary
Luca really shouldn’t open the box.But curiosity got the better of him.
He stared at the contents for a few seconds, his brain going blank as he tried to figure out what he had found.Inside the box was a headband with two black cat-style ears attached to it. A long black tail with a clip at the end, and, Luca’s fingers twitch at his side with the urge to touch it, a set of black plugs in different sizes to which the tail can apparently be attached. They were all exactly the same color as Shane’s hair.
Luca swallowed hard.
Underneath it all he could see a collar. Too big for a cat. Too big for Anya. A small heart-shaped pendant was dangling from it. The soft light coming from the hallway behind him revealed the Russian word engraved on it.The front door opened downstairs, and Anya dashed off to greet her dads. Luca dropped the collar and rushed to close the box again. He could already hear footsteps on the stairs.“Luca? We’re back home!” His captain’s voice was getting closer.
