I turn my attention back to the board, a mess of red thread and information whose layout I hope is logical to her, because it certainly isn't to me. If I were a different type of killer, this would be exciting, seeing it all laid out like this. And there is some thrill in knowing that someone as clever as Emma is paying this much attention, despite the risk.
Mostly, though, it's making me a very certain kind of hungry. I feel hot under the collar, too warm in my own skin.
Inside my chest, something opens its maw and begs to be fed.
