Notes:

Hi everyone! Have you been enjoying "Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me"?
Remember, you can stream the show on GagaOoLala and Viki!

I'm back with another fic! I wrote a SeriSuzu story before this called "Drops of Sunlight." The timeline for that one is at the beginning of the story. Check it out if you'd like!

This new one is when they finally get together and are in a relationship, which is definitely more exciting because they can be clingy lovey dovey boyfriends.

Before you start reading, here's a small warning that Suzuki does have an uncomfortable short conversation with his old friends at first. If you don't want to read that part, you can skip past the dotted line to the fluffy comforting section of the story.

This is dedicated to everyone with low self esteem. I hope you are surrounded by those who love you for who you truly are. Or that you'll meet them soon 💗

Much love! xo

Work Text:

Until this year, Suzuki was used to the feeling of loneliness entering the school building.

Now, things have shifted for the better.

Properly getting to know Serizawa had changed his life. Not only did he have a boyfriend, but also a group of loyal friends that accepted him for who he is. (An introverted fudanshi that writes and reads BL stories.)

If past Suzuki saw his life now, he probably wouldn't believe how much things got better.

Even in the present, he was scared he'd wake up from a long dream that was just an illusion. Something that'd be out of reach.

Those fears would sometimes bubble up to the surface.

Especially in moments like..

"Oh. Suzuki. Going to your friends?"

Their icy tone sliced through the air, disrupting the warmth that once filled his smiling cheeks.

Suzuki froze mid-step. He was planning to turn the corner to his usual meeting place: the rooftop for lunch.

Unfortunately, he was stopped too early.

It had been a while since he'd even breathed a word to his older friends. And vice versa.

They were the opposite of the new people in his life. Unaccepting and eager to gossip about how weird he was for liking BL, even assuming negative stereotypes about him that weren't true.

Since Suzuki split ways with them, they kept their distance.. for the most part.

The glares became more frequent once he made friends who were (in their words) 'in an entirely different league.'

If it weren't for Serizawa, Takeuchi, Saeki, and Iwasaki defending him.. they'd be picking on him more often.

It wasn't a surprise at this point that they'd find him when he was alone.

Suzuki knew that they had no right to treat him like this, but still..

It stung. Even if he didn't do anything wrong to them, the look of envy in their eyes made him fearful to stand there any longer.

"How are you friends with them anyways? What's so special about you?"

Two of the boys were the chattiest, laughing sarcastically, while Matsuno (the one he used to be closest with) stayed silent and let it happen. Which was what usually happened these days.

Suzuki, in the past, may have taken the emotional beating.

In the present moment? He was fed up.

"They're kind and like me for who I am." He murmured, trying to muster up the confidence, but there was struggle.

"What did you say? Why can't you speak up?"

The way they mocked him though.. it pissed him off, enough to speak his mind.

Suzuki clenched his fist and just for a moment, he looked up at them with determined eyes. "They're kind and like me for who I am."

The boys were clearly a bit taken aback, as they'd never seen this side of him before, but they didn't back down.

"For who you are? Are you sure they don't just feel bad for you?"

That was the final blow. He tried to maintain his brave face and even took a step towards the staircase again, to go towards his real friends, but he turned the opposite direction.

Tears were quickly filling up in his eyes. He didn't want to worry them.

So, Suzuki ran away to a place where he could be alone.

'Why isn't he here yet?' Serizawa anxiously tapped his foot and then turned to Saeki and Takeuchi. "I'm going to go look for him."

The two shrugged and then flinched a bit at the noise of Iwasaki quickly running up to them.

"What's up?" They all questioned.

"I was in the hallway heading upstairs, when I saw Suzuki's ex-friends cornering him-"

"WHAT?" Serizawa looked a mix of furious and worried at the same time. "They didn't learn their lesson by now? Shit. I wasn't there to help." He slapped his own forehead in frustration.

"Before I could intervene, he stood up for himself. I was so proud." Iwasaki put his hand on his heart for a moment, "Unfortunately.. they didn't give up and Suzuki ran off somewhere. I couldn't catch him on time, but I did give those boys a piece of my mind." His eye twitched. "They won't be bothering our Suzuki again."

Right as he finished talking, Serizawa bolted towards the staircase, going down. "I'll go find him."

"Okay!" They glanced at eachother in worry, then back to him. "Make sure you keep us in the loop!"

"Yeah!" He called back from a distance.

Takeuchi and Saeki looked towards Iwasaki,

".... So, did you send them flying into space?"

"Did you? Did you?"

Serizawa immediately ran towards the empty classroom he expected his boyfriend to be in.

And luckily, his guess was spot on.

The moment the door opened, he heard familiar sniffles.

Suzuki was curled up on the floor under a desk, using the chairs as a shield to cover his crying face.

"Hey.. hey.." Serizawa whispered, quietly approaching him with soft steps to not startle him, "It's just me. It's okay."

Letting out a visible sigh of relief, he moved the chair away and allowed his boyfriend to sit beside him.

"I heard a bit of what happened from Iwasaki. Was it.. those guys again? From your first year?"

After seeing him nod, Serizawa grabbed some tissues from his pocket and gently dabbed the tears off of his cheeks.

"Did you always carry those around?" Suzuki asked in a small voice.

"Oh, this?" His boyfriend showed the small pack to him, "I started to when we first became friends. Just in case you ever needed it. I also bring band-aids.."

"Eh?" He couldn't help but smile a bit at the thoughtful gesture, "I'm really touched. And also.."

"Also?"

"I feel sorry. I'm so clumsy, too emotional over everything, I'm not very smart, not that much to look at and.."

"No. That's wrong." Serizawa placed his hands on his shoulders, fully facing him now and giving them a light squeeze. "I don't know what kind of things they told you, but they're full of garbage. Don't listen to anything they have to say."

"I know.. I've changed a lot. I know they're being horrible and saying all these things to bring me down. But.. what if some of it is true? I do stick out when I'm next to you."

Tears continued to pour down his cheeks, and despite that, he moved his hands up to cradle his face lovingly. "You 'stick out' because you're my sweet, handsome, kind, creative, and adorable boyfriend. Inside and out, you're perfect the way you are."

Suzuki blinked his tears away and stared up at him with wide eyes. "You really think that?"

"I've known it. For a long time. All those 'flaws' you think you have.." Serizawa playfully poked him on the nose, "I love all of it because I love all of you."

He looked a little unconvinced at that, so he playfully squished his cheeks together, making a fishy face. "Say you accept my feelings."

"But.."

"La la laaaa! I can't understand you, little fish."

"Fine, fine! Stoppp!" Suzuki playfully swatted his hands away.

"Hmm?" Serizawa tilted his head, cutely, and poked his cheek. "You love me, right Suzuki? You trust me?"

"Of course I do." He pouted, "Is that even a question?"

"What I'm trying to explain is that.. I really love you. I'm not lying. All those things about you just make you more endearing. I would never lie about that."

"I know."

"So.. accept my feelings."

"Okay. I will."

Serizawa smirked, "Good, because if that didn't work, I would have had to use my back up plan."

"...What is it?"

"Kiss you until you admit defeat."

Suzuki blushed tomato red, suddenly looking at his lips. "... Well, now that I think about it." He fidgeted a bit, "I haven't accepted your feelings quite yet.. so.."

"I see what you're doing."

With a surprise squeak, Serizawa pulled his boyfriend onto his lap, facing him.

"W-What? What is happening?"

"You know." He pressed a light kiss on his nose, and felt pleased after seeing him flustered.

"..... Maybe a little."

"Knew it. You're so cute." Serizawa cooed, peppering kisses all over his face, even on some ticklish spots on his neck.

"Agh! Whyy? Serizawaaaa!"

"Not the type of kisses you were expecting? Too bad~!" He wrapped his arms around him, sighing in relief hearing Suzuki's giggles.

"I thought you wanted kisses on-"

Serizawa interrupted him by pressing a short and sweet kiss on his lips. "I always want kisses from you."

Suzuki sighed and then snuggled up to his chest, feeling calm and at peace in his arms. "Me too."

"You look tired." He gently pet his boyfriend's hair as he nodded in reply.

"Probably from crying.."

"Then we can stay here. I brought food with me." Serizawa pointed to the bag next to them with a grin. His expression so bright that it could have blinded him.

"You really are like the sun."

"Hm?" He blinked and tilted his head, curiously. "You keep calling me that, you know."

"I'm pretty sure everyone calls you their sunshine."

"I don't care about everyone. I care about you." Serizawa's gaze on him was unwavering, especially as he said that, gently brushing his fingers through his hair.

"Isn't it.. difficult to love someone like me though?"

"Not at all. It's pretty easy for me actually." He squished his cheeks between his palms again, teasing him. "What is difficult is sharing your cute face with everyone else~"

"But.."

"Can't understand you! You're a fish againnn!"

"Ugh!"

Serizawa blinked in surprise when his boyfriend overlapped his hands on top of his, frowning cutely.

"You're really adorable like that. I wish I could take a picture."

Suzuki pried his hands off of him, which was easy because Serizawa let him. "You better not!"

"I'm just teasing you. Taking pictures with my mind and absorbing the moment is much better right now."

"Mm." Suzuki nodded. His words made him self reflect.
"I'm glad I have all of you now. Being alone was.. really hard in the past. You're a blessing in my life."

"You are too." He repositioned his hands to play with his fluffy hair. "You're my moonshine."

"..M-Moonshine?"

"You call me your sunshine, right? In my eyes, you're just as special. My moon? My starlight? I love you so much, I could announce it to the whole world. Or maybe all the galaxies? Would the aliens be listening? They should."

He continued to lovingly yap. And as always, when one of them got excited talking about something, the other listened with a smile.

It didn't matter if Suzuki is an introvert and Serizawa is an extrovert. Especially when it came to conversation about their shared interest, BL, or their love for eachother.. there was always something to talk about.

"The moon and stars are really radiant and beautiful. I'm not sure if I'm anything like-"

"You're exactly like that. They should have been named Suzuki. You're one in the same."

"What are you saying?" He erupted into laughter, leaning his forehead on his chest.

Serizawa smiled in satisfaction, "The truth."

"Really?" Suzuki sniffled with a smile, still feeling the after effects of all his sobbing.

"My moonshine is too hard on himself." He shook his head with a sigh, "There's more to life than being alone. There's a lot of happiness and love to experience. Now blow your nose~" He unexpectedly put the tissue right in front of his nostrils.

"Huh? I can do it myself, you know." Suzuki grabbed the tissue from his hands with a pout, using it immediately.

"Are you that surprised I'm offering, considering I usually feed you every lunch? Speaking of.. I need to feed you before the break's over." Serizawa shuffled through the bag and opened up the container of stew.

"We take turns feeding eachother, you brat." Suzuki playfully punched his boyfriend's shoulder (which he didn't even feel much, due to his strong build).

"Did a baby deer just poke me?" He teased with a laugh, "Is that what I felt just now?"

"Grrr.."

"Okay angry little deer, say ah!"

Suzuki huffed for a while, before finally relenting and taking the bite.

Serizawa smiled in satisfaction, as if he just ate a bite too. "Remember to eat slowly. There's no rush."

"There kinda is."

"Eh. I locked the classroom. Even if they try to, they can't get in."

"Huh!?" Suzuki looked towards the doors immediately, "When did you even do that?"

"When I first walked in.. OR I have magical powers... Ooh, maybe that can be your next novel idea." Serizawa joked, taking a bite of stew himself inbetween.

"Like what? Two boys are roommates at a school for wizards?..." Suzuki paused and then immediately took out his notebook from his bag. He turned his back towards him and readjusted their seating position to their usual one. "I'm writing it down."

"Heh heh. Don't forget to eat inbetween."

The pair sat there in the corner like that. Suzuki brainstorming what his next stories should be about, while Serizawa lovingly fed him with an excited look in his eyes, eager to read it.

After they finished eating, Serizawa clung to his back, nuzzling his face against the crook of his shoulder.

"S-Serizawa? What are you doing?"

"Sleeping."

"Huh? The bell should ring any minute now!" Suzuki squirmed in his grasp.

"I'm tired though." Despite his excuses, he lightly pressed his lips against his neck.

He did something like this earlier to tickle him, but now it was an intentional way to fluster him.

Suzuki squeaked in surprise and covered his mouth, "W-Wait.. this is too much. Isn't it? Won't it ruin your reputation if someone sees us?"

"If my reputation gets 'ruined' from me being with someone who makes me happy, then it's not worth it." He said, honestly. "I don't care for it. You're more important to me."

"But.."

"Nope." Serizawa only held him closer, "You're mine."

"What does that have to do with it?" He smiled a little and turned his head to look at him, shyly, "Can I have..?"

Serizawa practically read his mind and pressed a gentle kiss against his lips. His hands, that were positioned on his waist, made their way up to cradle his face.

Just as Suzuki was melting into it and turning a bit towards him, the bell ringing made him flinch.

"Ah! Already?" Serizawa pouted when his boyfriend pulled away, hurriedly cleaning up their things.

"It's good our next class is in here." Suzuki shakily stood up and walked towards the door to unlock it.

"...Wait, there's two doors and the other door wasn't locked. Anyone could have walked in." He exclaimed, with his hands covering his reddened face.

Serizawa just continued to chuckle while getting off the floor. "Oops? I mean.. a lot of other students are in relationships. I'm sure this can happen."

"Serizawaaaa!"

"Okay okay, I'm sorry. I'll check carefully next time."

As they ended their conversation, other classmates began to flood in.

Iwasaki, Takeuchi, and Saeki immediately circled around Suzuki in worry, patting his shoulder.

"You okay?"

"Do you need a hug?"

"Did the idiot Serizawa comfort you properly?"

"Hey.. I'm right here, you know." He sulked.

Suzuki giggled, "I'm feeling a lot better." He turned to his boyfriend and patted his head, "All thanks to him."

At the gesture, Serizawa relaxed and nuzzled his head against his. "Really?"

"Look at these lovebirds.." Takeuchi snickered and Iwasaki nodded in agreement.

"I'm taking a picture!" Saeki announced and then showed it off to the rest of the group. "Aww."

"Can you send it to me?" The couple simultaneously asked and then looked at eachother in surprise.

"Are we connecting telepathically?"

"Maybe it's because you press our heads together all the time."

"Is it?" Serizawa smiled affectionately, "I told you I'm magical."

"You are to me.. No doubt about it." Suzuki mumbled. It wasn't audible for any of the others, but his boyfriend was able to discern what he said.

"I should be saying that to you." He said softly, poking his nose with a laugh.

"Dude, the teacher's gonna walk in soon." Iwasaki pointed out.

Suzuki nodded in agreement, "You're right." He pointed towards the desk in front of them, patting his boyfriend's head, and asking softly. "Shouldn't you go sit down now?"

"Okay." Immediately without question, he smiled and obeyed him, running up to his desk.

"Woah, that gave me chills. I'll never get used to Serizawa listening to anyone." Takeuchi commented, yelping at the eraser getting thrown at him.

"Nevermind."
