Work Text:
“He was lying there in his own blood. No one would come to rescue him, and that was okay. A great calm settled over him as …”
Pssssssss!
“Not another one!” Charlie hissed angrily as he looked up from the story he was currently working on.
Pssssss-sssss-sssss!
“Get OFF me!” he yelled, striking at the fly that had nonchalantly settled on his temple.
Psssss-ssss-pssss!
Angrily he tried to follow it with his eyes. “I swear, I already got rid of one of your colleagues today, so you better watch it!” He returned to his story

“For heaven’s sake!” Charlie literally sprang up from his chair, glaring at the fly that was now innocently sitting on the desk lamp, cleaning itself.
“Little fucker,” Charlie mumbled, reaching for the fly swatter and taking aim.
Pang!
Psssssssssss!
“Goddammit!”

When Nick entered the study to ask Charlie if he wanted to join him for a cup of tea, he saw Charlie dancing. But not in the sexy way he was used to and liked so much. He gaped with an open mouth at his husband.
“Char? What are you doing?”
“Stop distracting me. I’m hunting,” Charlie replied grimly.
Nick closed his mouth and tried not to burst out laughing. “For?”
“Little buggers that won’t let me write!” Charlie shot back, swatting the swatter in his face.
Pssssss-srrrr-pssssss!
Pang!
“Gotcha!”

“I don’t believe it!” Charlie groaned, rolling his eyes, swatting the air.
“Char, it’s just a fly. It’s tiny. Can’t you just ignore it?”
“It’s not JUST a fly! It’s the thorn in my side, my nemesis, my sworn enemy…”
“Okay, got it, you’re annoyed.”
Pang!
“Not anymore,” Charlie announced with a satisfied smirk. “Now, since it’s JUST a fly I let you get rid of it. I’m busy.” That said he went back to his desk and sat down to continue his story, indicating the resting place of the fly to Nick.
“Erm - Char?”
Charlie huffed angrily. “What?”
“I really hate to break it to you, but it seems you missed.”
“Are you doubting my hunting skills?”
“Sorry, didn’t know fly hunting was one of your special skills,” Nick replied sardonically.
PSSSSSSSSS!
“Oh for FUCK’S sake!”
“Char!”
PSSSSS-SSSSSS-TSSSS!
“Where is it? Where is that little fucker?”
“Seems to have gotten bigger?” Nick whimpered.
PSSSSSSS!
TRRRRRRR-PSSSS!
TSSSSSS!
“And I think it called in reinforcements!”
“Nicholas, don’t be a sissy! Grab the swatter!”
PANG!
“It doesn’t work!”

PHHHHTTTT!
TRRRRRRR-PSSSS!

Charlie stared at the bataillon of angry flies that were attacking his husband. “Erm - Birds I get, but this is ridiculous. Hitchcock would have a field day about this!”
“Stop the movie comparisons! RUN!” Nick bellowed, starting for their bedroom. Charlie looked helplessly at the swarm of slightly-too-big-flies and decided that that was actually one of Nick’s finer ideas.

Once inside their bedroom they recouped and discussed their situation.
“Whatever those are, they are not normal flies!” Nick pointed out, panic in his voice.
“And what do you think they are? Mutants?”
“You sure you got that first one? It was dead?”
“Pretty sure it was.”
“Well, there you have it, those are zombie-flies. We're in a zombie-flies-apocalypse!”
PSSSSSSSS!
POW
POW POW
BOOM BOOM PSSSSSS!
“They are trying to get in! What do we do? Charlieeeeeee!”.
But Charlie was already on the phone. “Yes, we need an exterminator. ASAP. - Yes, some kind of fly infestation - yes, Nelson-Spring - key is under the doormat - thank you, bye.” He hung up and grinned at Nick. “They should be here in about an hour.”
“And what do you suggest we do until then?”
“Well,” Charlie smirked. “Flies are out there. Bed is in here. I could think of a few things.”
“Fucking during the apocalypse?”
“Precisely!”
“Count me in!”
