Work Text:
Zero lived around the cabin, waltzing through the pine woods; the tense aroma of nature filled a large gap in his nose, as the wispy clouds hovered the gloss of the sun. He was helping out fifteen slice down trees for the fire they were making. The axe pressed against the bark and the tree fell immediately.
“Geez. Hmm.. Fifteen!” Zero yelped.
“What?” Fifteen walked out, holding an axe on her paw.
“Tis’ some pretty nice bark.”
“I see, aight’, slice it up for our fire.”
Zero broke the bark into pieces, not getting a single splinter. He brought the pieces of wood into the pile of bark. Suddenly, Fourteen creeped up behind Zero and grabbed his shoulders; Zero’s hands became languid.
“Hello Zero! I'm hungry.” Fourteen spoke mischievously
“Okay? What do you want me to do?”
“I would prefer it if you gave me skin! C'mon, don't be a sucka’!” Fourteen gripped harder.
“Do ya’ need me to get Fifteen? Because I can.”
“If she gives me skin!”
“Aight’.”
Zero howled Fifteen's name, she came out soon.
“What's wron’?” Fifteen held Zero’s palm, comforting him
Zero became a hot rosy coral; quickly looking away from Fifteen. His paws were clammy.
“F-Fourteen…wants som’ skin.”
Fifteen sighs, knowing this ain't the first time.
“Aight’ fine. I’ll get ya some.”
“Thanks Fifteen!” Fourteen yelled away blissfully.
Fifteen glanced at Fourteen one last time, and held Zero’s hand.
“Go back to the cabin fo’ me, honey.” She spoke softly
“Yes ma’am.”
Before leaving, Zero stood to stare at the pearly silver ring he had on his left hand. He tightened his muscles, and thought about his spouse; the vein that led to his heart pulsed. Fifteen noticed him staring at his ring, she stared at hers. Fifteen laid her paw against his. Her fingers were soft and tingly; it twitched Zero’s fingers.
“It's ok, my love. I’m here.” Fifteen said while staring into Zero’s eyes.
“So am I.”
Zero slowly lets go of her palm and gives her a puckering kiss on her lips, Fifteen freezes and gives in slowly, kissing him back with intimacy. Zero pulled back and ran away in embarrassment; his paws covered his rosy face. Fifteen chuckled and went back into cutting down trees.

The next morning, Zero fluttered his eyes open; the vast clouds hovered his face on the window as slender drops chimed on the glass, his head disheveled and sloppy almost. He watched the curtains of the cabin open up, watching the weeping window of heavy rain. Zero sighed softly and got up, his bare feet creaked against the wooden floorboards as he stood up to walk to the door. He opened the wooden door gently, seeing Fifteen sitting on the table, sharpening a knife; it curved like a scythe. She held the knife on her paw, looking at the edges closely. She smirked and placed it down; She saw Zero staring at her at the corner of her eye.
“Mornin’, did ya sleep well?” Fifteen asked softly.
“Ya, still tired though.”
“I can make som’ hot coco if ya need.”
“Yes please…”
“Aight’ sugar.”
Zero felt his ears burn at the nickname; Fifteen just chuckled and walked to the kitchen. Zero sat his bottom down on the snugly crimson couch with the static TV in the front; Zero touched the remote; it still went static.
“Honey! The TV ain't workin’!” Zero complained.
“Well it's because it's rainin’.”
“It ain't that bad.”
Fifteen looked at the window near the table; the raindrops punched the window with pressure, every bump by bump; the grass slowly flooded with liquid, dark blue clouds hung low over the cabin, spilling rain across the fields, the lighting struck with climatic force in the azure clouds. The storm was a dazzling melancholy, pessimistic mourn of weeping clouds.
“You sure? It seems hard to me.” Fifteen spoke.
“Sheesh. Nevermind then.”
Zero pressed his finger against the remote while it was still static; the TV flickered and showed a dark screen, the TV reflected Zero’s face; He slowly slumped back against the couch and sighed. Fifteen stirred the hot coco in the polished glass cup.
“Zero!” Fifteen yelled across the room.
“Ya?”
“Your hot coco!”
Zero stood up quickly, just to see her handing the steaming hot coco to him. He slowly held it in his palms, his fingers wrapped around the warm surface. He took a sip, gulping it down, his Adam's apple bobbing. Zero looked up at Fifteen. Her amber eyes caught the dim light, and his chest tightened before he could look away. A hint of scorching red creeped up his neck; feeling his heart throb in his chest.
“I-I-I love ya…”
“So do I, sweetheart.”
“Cmon, get som’ food fo’ dinna’.”
“Cant ya see I'm not done drinkin’?” Zero teases
“Ay’!” Fifteen chuckles
“Aight’ then, finish yo drink then.”
Zero takes one final sip, he glups it down, and advances a step back into the kitchen to drop the cup into the sink.
“Go get n’ ready” Fifteen spoke softly.
Zero sighed. “Yes ma’am.”
