Peter’s eyes felt heavy as he tried to open them, still expecting the sterile smell of the hospital room. His head was pounding and his hair felt sticky on his face, but none of that compared to the ache in his abdomen. Peter forced his eyes open and saw the ceiling of his cramped apartment.
