   David didn’t appear trustworthy when she first met him. Far from it actually. His smile was too wide for that of a starving man. No, her brain gave off alarm bells from the moment he opened his mouth. But he had what she needed. She got medicine and she couldn’t take a whole deer back anyway. The trade seemed fair enough. Of course, then she didn’t know how much he was truly planning on taking from her. It was only when she was pinned down surrounded by flames that her brain finally allowed her to fully process what he wanted. And it was fucking terrifying.
