'Ronan, you are impossible,' Gansey sighed as Adam reached the cafeteria table. He surveyed the tense glare in Ronan's eyes compared to the tired one in Gansey's. Whatever they had been talking about seemed like an old argument resurfaced, both boy already set in their ways and unlikely to change. Adam sighed inwardly. Ronan really could be impossible sometimes. He slung his bag off his shoulder and took the chair beside Ronan.
'What's going on?' he asked.
'Nothing,' Ronan spat, in a tone that conveyed that it was not actually nothing.
Gansey took off his glasses to wipe them on his shirt. 'Ronan and I are just having a bit of a dispute over the obligation I feel that he has to maintain his attendance.'
Adam raised his eyebrows at Gansey, already knowing where this was going. 'I just dont know why you keep pushing me,' Ronan muttered. 'I'm not like you, old man. I dont get off on writing notes.'
Gansey looked pained. Babysitting a Lynch was no easy task. 'There's only two hours left in the school day,' he said, exasperated. Ronan just rolled his eyes.
'C'mon, Lynch,' Adam said, placing a hand on Ronan's thigh. 'Two hours really isn't that much.'
'Oh don't you start too.'
Adam just smirked, his hand on Ronan's thigh inching ever so slightly higher.
'GANSEY BOY!' Adam looked away from Ronan to see a group of Aglionbros strutting towards their table. He felt his body stiffen, his face harden, as Gansey immediately plastered on his best made-for-congress smile and turned around in his seat to talk to them.
Adam watched him for a few seconds, the effortlessness in which he could mould himself to fit in with them.
He looked back at Ronan, eyes closed and hands behind his head with an air of nonchalance about him, but Adam knew he was zeroed in on his hand. His clenched jaw said so.
He snaked it farther up his thigh under the table and watched Ronan swallow, eyes still shut. 'You really won't stay the rest of the day?' he murmured. Ronan didnt reply.
Impossible Ronan.
Adam thought of poor Gansey, trying in vain to get Ronan to stick out the rest of the school year. He didn't much see the point, but he knew that it meant something to Gansey, and so, it meant something to Adam.
Adam leaned in close, making sure he was out of earshot of the Aglionbros, and whispered, bluntly, 'I'll suck you off in the bathrooms if you do.' This finally got Ronan to open his eyes.
His hips twitched into Adam's hand, unconsciously, almost imperceptibly. He refused to make eye contact with Adam, but Adam knew he was listening to him now.
Gansey turned back to them and Adam removed his hand from Ronan's crotch. He sat a little straighter in his chair. Ronan slouched a little deeper.
Gansey looked between the two, at Ronan's pink cheeks and Adam's placid expression, seemingly not noticing anything amiss.
'Well, Ronan, like I was saying-'
'Actually, Gansey,' Adam said. 'Ronan and I got it sorted out.' He stood up from the table and grabbed his bag. 'I've gotta go, but I'll see you in class.' He gave Ronan a lingering look before leaving the cafeteria.
Ronan waited about seven seconds before scrambling out of his seat and muttering some excuse to Gansey before almost running out of the room. Gansey just stared after them in bewilderment.
He was all alone at the table.

Ronan pushed open the bathroom door to find Adam already leaning against the wall, waiting for him. He swiftly locked the door and Adam crowded him against the sinks, pulling Ronan in by the tie wrapped round his fist. Ronan ached to kiss him, but Adam kept a small distance between them.
'You promise to stay the week?' he asked, breath hot on Ronan's cheek.
Ronan huffed. 'I thought you only said today.'
'C'mon, Ronan,' Adam drawled, Henrietta accent laid on thick, lips ghosting the corner of Ronan's jaw, 'do it for me.'
Adam knew he didnt need to say those words, Ronan would do anything for him. But this control over him was a new feeling of power that he wasnt used to, and that he liked. And he knew Ronan liked it too. He felt Ronan swallow.
'Yeah, whatever.' A practiced disinterest in his voice, the only tone apparent to the untrained ear. But Adam could hear the notes underneath. Ronan would stay, of course he would stay if Adam asked.
They came together and Ronan kissed him hungrily, like he'd been waiting all his life to do so. Adam was always a little taken aback by Ronan's devotion to him, like Ronan was putting all his energy into the wrong hobby. But he met him with equal hunger, and all thoughts were forgotten as he got lost in the feel of stubble on lips, teeth and fingertips. Ronan sucked on his neck and tangled fingers in his nape and soon it all became too much. he dropped to his knees and began undoing Ronan's belt, kissing Ronan's thumb as his hand cradled his cheek.
Having sex with Adam Parrish in Aglionby had been one of the many seemingly impossible fantasies that had kept Ronan contained during the stretched hours of meaningless classes. And now that it was really happening, that Adam was warm and tangible and right here, under the too bright fluorescent lights, under his hands, was proof enough to him that the divine was real. Because being with Adam felt like that sometimes. Like how could this be any less than a miracle? Than a higher presence blessing him for god knows what?
Being with adam was hands in hair, thumb caressing hip bone, Adam's mouth warm around him. It was names panted under breaths, the only noises in the room the sounds escaping their lips. It was Ronan coming; back arched, head thrown back, lip caught between teeth, and knowing, without a shadow of a doubt, that he loved this man.
Adam got to his feet, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He felt electric.
Ronan was leaning, heavy and spent, against the sinks for balance, his bottom lip a deep red, like he'd been biting on it. His eyes were still closed, breaths coming in shaky through his nose.
Adam leaned in to kiss his cheek, before promptly turning and walking towards the door. Grabbing the handle, he looked over his shoulder.
'See you in class, Lynch.'
Ronan looked dazed, on another plane, but he still managed to say, 'Yeah. I'll see you.'
Adam left the bathroom smiling to himself.
Ronan would be coming to school this week.
Gansey would be pleased.
