Chapter Text
everything happened so fast
The four hobbits,Pippin,Merry,Sam and Frodo returned to the Shire.Everyone seemed to continue living their classic life.Merry and Pippin were sitting in Green Dragon celebrating their susesfull mission and most important-they came back alive.
"i'm so glad we made it out...but...something is diffrent...i never noticed how Sam looks at Frodo before..." Merry said looked away and took a sip from his beer
"They got so close trough the journey they seem ...closer..."Pippin said and looked for understanding in Merrys face
On the other side of the table Merry looked at his beer then at Pip and countinued talking
"they are bound by something deeper than just...regular friendship"He said hoping Pippin would get what he wants to say
Pippin looked at merry with understanding in his face "Look...we're very close, Sam and Frodo are close ...but in a diffrent way they are bound by something entirely their own,"
Pippin continued, swirling the dark ale in his glass. "It’s not just that they survived Mordor, Merry. It’s that they left a piece of themselves behind, and found it in each other instead. They are bound by something we'll never quite have words for,It’s not just about duty or being brave anymore. It’s like their souls got tangled up together
somewhere in the dark."
Merry looked at Pip,kinda confused that this came from his not so poetic friend. On the other side it was coming from his heart and Merry understood what Pip was trying to say.
"Did you see how Sam looked at him on the road back? Not like a master and a servant, or even just two old friends from Bag End. Every step Sam took was just to keep Frodo alive. And Frodo looks at him now like Sam is the only thing keeping his feet on the ground."
"Because he is," Pippin said softly, his usual joking demeanor giving way to a rare, serious stillness. "Frodo came back with a piece of his heart gone, Merry. You can see it in his eyes—he's still half-somewhere else. But when Sam touches his arm or speaks to him, Frodo comes back to us. Sam is his anchor."
Merry and Pippin were both looking at the table and smiling. Then something came across Merry's mind that put a serious note on his face
"Wait,Pip..is Sam still gonna propose to Rosie??"
he said and lowered his voice so no one could hear
Pippin blinked, his smile fading slightly as he set his mug down on the wooden table.
"I... I don't know, Merry," Pippin whispered back, leaning over the table so their foreheads nearly touched. "Before we left, it was always Rosie. Sam couldn't stop blushing whenever her name came up."
"That was before," Merry said softly. "Before Mordor. Before Mount Doom. Do you really think Sam could go back to how things were? Give his heart to Rosie when it's so clearly... already given?"
Merry looked at Pip and gave him a soft smile before drinking from his ale.Pippin fell silent for a moment.
"I think," Pippin murmured, a soft, sad understanding in his voice, "that the world Sam knew before we left doesn't exist for him anymore. His heart isn't in Hobbiton or at the Cotton farm. It's right next to him."
"And Rosie?" Merry asked quietly.
Pippin took a sip from his beer and smiled
"Thats something only Sam knows"
