"When were you gonna tell me you're leaving?"
Ginny looks up from the box she's packing to find her brother, Clay—well, actually, his name is Danny, but everybody's been calling him Clay since they were in middle school—standing in the doorway.
"Oh, Clay—"
"It's me. Yeah. Your favorite twin brother who you're supposed to tell everything to."
"I swear I was going to tell you. I just.. didn't want you to get all.. you.. about it."
"By all me I'm assuming you mean all upset." Ginny scrunches up her face as she nods. "Of course I'd be upset that my sister's skipping town."
"It's not like I'm leaving the state. I'm gonna be, like, an hour and a half west. Maybe two hours depending on the traffic."
Clay steps in now, walking past the boxes neatly stacked up in the walkway. He sits on her now-empty bed, chin in his hands. "I just don't get it."
Ginny rolls her eyes. "Don't get what?"
"Why you gotta go all the way to Long Beach. There's plenty of shit you can do here."
"Not really." Ginny finishes taping the box shut and sits back on the floor. "I mean.. if I play my cards right I might be able to get a job with Stark Industries out there. If I can climb up that ladder I'm set, Clay. Can't do that here."
Clay frowns, but Ginny knows he understands. He always does. She just has to wait.
Fortunately, it doesn't take long before he sigh, loud and dramatic. "Fine. Yeah. Whatever. I guess I can support you. Just dont forget to call, alright?"
"Of course, not." Ginny laughs. "Who do you think I am?"
