From What I’ve Tasted Of Desire

Summary:

Is it, do you think, terrible of a woman to desire another woman? Is it always unforgivable? I have been lead to believe so, but I find myself uncertain.

Work Text:

A letter, sent

Tansy,

Forgive me this letter. Certain thoughts have been preoccupying me, and I thought perhaps you might be able to offer some insight. Is it, do you think, terrible of a woman to desire another woman? Is it always unforgivable? I have been lead to believe so, but I find myself uncertain.

Letters, unsent

Tansy,

There was a woman I thought beautiful. My father thought so too. How could I ever forgive myself, for thinking like him? If I want the same as he does, something is wrong with me.

Tansy,

I have bedded a woman. I will never see her again. I really am just like my father.

Tansy,

I want sex with women, but I have never felt love. I think myself incapable of it. Perhaps I lost it when I came out damaged. Perhaps that capability was burned out with my mother’s life. Perhaps I have always been broken.

Tansy,

What desires have you felt? Have you felt the kind of desperation I feel, like something in me is forever unsatisfied? There is an urge inside me that will never be sated. I must put these feelings away, but I confess it is difficult. I cannot allow them to rule me, though. No-one can ever know. I am a failed enough daughter already.
