Chapter Text
Tansy,
You are correct, that is not, I will admit, how I expected you to begin. I suppose perhaps I should have. It’s not like I don’t know about the conflict. My father has a great deal to say on the matter. I will not bore you with his words, for I do not care to repeat them.
You are very convinced of your own righteousness. Your family always are. Perhaps the cause is righteous, I confess I have paid little attention, but is it righteous enough to kill for?
We are burdened with very different duties. My father has recently left to join the fight himself. On the other side to you, of course. He has left me behind to run things in his absence, and to continue to take care of his heir. It is no surprise you feel no guilt. You always were more dutiful than I. I am sure your brother appreciates your presence. I hope he tells you so. I am sure, also, that you and Alysanne are able fighters, whatever the men around you might say. Not, of course, that I care.
I will not begrudge you this burden. I understand the necessity of certain confessions. I suppose all we can do is hope for an end to this struggle.
Mya
