When Pastor Jim orders John onto an urgent case while he's in the middle of a perceived lead on the yellow-eyed demon, he sends Dean to take care of it for him... by enrolling him and Sam at the summer camp the monster they're hunting is threatening. It’s in every secret Bruce has ever kept, which are buried so deep within him, that he isn’t even certain he can dig them out, and doesn’t think that he wants to. It’s in every promise— whether gifted or given —because in the end every one of them is nothing but ash.
That’s okay, though, because Bruce can endure. He can endure, because he knows by now that love is enduring things, and waiting for his reward. Yes, Bruce can endure, because that’s what love is.

His Aunt Queenie had hunted down a renowned developmental pediatrician in Middle of Nowhere, Georgia. Most of his arguments had vanished at that; while he was happy (as happy as he was capable of being, at least), they had been looking for someone to help Brooklyn.
His aunt knew what he did at night; she didn't like it, but she turned the other way when she saw the first stack of cash he dropped onto their old dining table. Though his dubious income helped them breathe a little, it didn't stop her worry from shifting from finances to her wayward nephew. His aunt loved him, and he loved her, but Brooklyn was the light of his life; he would have ended up in a ditch long ago if they hadn't been waiting for him at home.
The first week was fine; whatever, really. His busmate was some girl named Ashlyn; there were two other new kids besides him, and he would start in three days—mundane shit.
He never could have guessed what would happen on that trip to Savannah.

All the while, a young lamb girl named Lucy, once a familiar name in here ransacked village, follows them with her family as she battles with the conflict of her beliefs about the world as she watches it actively change around her.
