The Red Priests understood Mya, as only one other person had ever understood her. Their ways might seem strange, but she thought them better for it. She had needed that strangeness, that unfamiliarity, that distance.
R’hllor, Lord of Light, the Heart of Fire, the God of Flame and Shadow, the Red God, was a far greater force than any who had ever hurt her. R’hllor brought night and day. R’hllor was warmth and light and protection and all that was good. She would do as R’hllor commanded, instructions to her and her fellows given through the throats of his priests.
