Shu had been sitting behind his desk doing some admin work for the principal when the door slammed open. "Who— Sir! Apologies, is there something you need?" He froze when he saw the teacher-in-charge of the sports department standing in the doorway.
The teacher stormed forward and slammed a file onto the desk. "You gave me your word, Shu," the teacher said lowly, flipping the file open to show a student's grades. Luca's grades. Which were even worse than the term before.
"You promised you would reign him in and make him put in the work, instead, he seems to be doing even worse!" The teacher shouted, making Shu flinch back. While everyone seemed to think that the sports teacher was the best teacher, all Shu knew of the man was this he was horrible, cruel and almost abusive. And, he was Shu's father. His father, who hated Luca for his carefree attitude, for how he didn't care for his grades. He had been pressuring Shu to break up with Luca for the longest time, and had given Shu an ultimanum. Get Luca to focus on his studies and become a 'proper young man', or they break up and never see each other again.
And Shu, against his heart, had agreed. He had told Luca of his father's ultimatum, and had even told Luca firmly that despite his love for Luca, he was a filial child and he would do as his father wishes.
Luca had said he understood, he had. But why was it that Luca seemed to be doing even worse than before?!
"Either you break up with that boy, Shu, or we'll be having discussions about your position in our family," Shu flinched at the reminder. The Yamino family was reknowned for their intellect, and Shu was no exception to their genes. Shu had grown up being under his father's thumb, and Luca was someone that his father despised because he was the only person who could draw Shu away.
Shu wished he could defy his father, but years of training had ingrained into him that defiance was not an option, not when his father held his mother and his sister in the palm of his hand. Shu's father was many things, but merciful was not one of them. He would do anything to maintain his family's image, even if it meant harming his family himself.
"Remember Shu," his father's hand clamped down on his shoulder, tight and possessive, "You're my creation, I made you. That boy, not only is he useless, he can't even help you procure an heir. If I hear that you and him are still together after this week," his father's hand moved to his throat, squeezing slightly just so his breathing was made difficult, "I'll just have to punish your sister in your stead."
He let go of Shu and left him alone in the Council Room. Shu gasped for air, thinking about his mother and sister, whose only crimes were being related to him and his monster of a father. So Shu had to obey. He needed to protect them.
And Shu could only do so much to protect them.

"Luca Kaneshiro!" Luca let out a small groan while his teammates let out a resounding "oooo". He sucked in a breath and turned around to see one Shu Yamino, President of their school's Student Council, standing before him. TO everyone else, Shu was the cold, untouchable President, to Luca, he was simply just Shu, his boyfriend of two years. Shu was always so adorable when he was angry, trying so hard to be mad at Luca but Luca knew his boyfriend could never truly be angry at him, and it just made him look like a cat.
"Hi Shubert, what's up?" Luca grinned at the other, who stomped over with anger burning in his eyes. "What's up? I'll tell you what's up! Why on earth are you failing another subject?!" Shu hissed, grabbing Luca by the ear to drag the athelete to his level. "Ow!" Luca complained, but didn't fight back as Shu dragged him away from the team. "You guys carry on first!" He yelled back at his teammates, who simply shrugged and continued with their day.
"Shuuuuuu, why're you so mean?" Luca wrapped his boyfriend in a hug, pouting as Shu continued to fume. "We had a deal, Luca! We can only stay together if you keep your grades up! I know you're smart, Luca, so what's happening?"
"Maybe, I just want you to yell at me," Luca smiled, pulling Shu into a kiss to calm him down. Shu huffed and pushed him away gently, "That's not going to work on me," he said.
"Then why're you blushing?" Luca tapped Shu's reddening cheeks lightly. "You-! Luca. I'm serious. What's going on with you? You're not usually this… bad at school," Shu frowned. He knew Luca was smart. He had seen Luca ace things no one else could back in high school, then they got to college and Luca started to do worse and worse. Shu couldn't figure it out at all. He didn't know of Luca's homelife, but he was quite sure that it wasn't the cause. He had met Luca's family before, and they were as warm and welcoming as any other, albeit a bit aloof due to their wealth. He just didn't understand why Luca was purposely doing badly, and then avoiding the topic when questioned.
"Didn't you say we were a team? What aren't you telling me?" Shu's voice cracked slightly, letting the hurt seep into his voice.
"Do you just not want to be with me? Is that it? I told you my father wants us to break up so you're using this way to make me the bad guy?" Shu whispered, stepping back, tears already forming in his eyes. "No! That's not it! I swear it isn't! I love you, Shu!" Luca defended immediately, pulling Shu into a tight hug and letting his boyfriend rest his head against Luca's chest.
"Then why? Why can't you just do it?" Shu cried, "Why do you have to make things so difficult?!"
Luca's gaze softened, as he pressed another kiss against Shu's forehead. "Because… Because I… Look, just give me a few days and I'll explain it to you, okay?" Luca held Shu by the shoulders firmly, looking in his boyfriend's eyes with an intense gaze that Shu had hardly ever seen before.
"Just trust me, okay?" Then Luca was giving him that smile, the same smile that had made him fall in love with Luca in the first place and he sighed, giving Luca a nod, "Okay. Three days. Three days and nothing more."
"Everything will be okay soon," Luca whispered, and Shu wasn't sure if it was to himself or to Luca.

Shu woke up in a room that was not his own.
But he did recognise the room. Luca's room. What…? "You're awake?" Luca's voice spoke up from next to him. Shu whirled his head around and found Luca calmly sitting next to him.
"Luca. What am i doing here?" Shu asked sharply, sitting up and with growing dread, realised that his body wasn't moving as quick as he liked. "Luca, what did you do?!" Shu wasn't stupid by any means, he was well aware of the signs of drugging, and he was clearly drugged.
"Welllll," Luca shrugged like this was a normal occurence, "You wanted out. I gave you an out. Now, he won't ever hurt you again!" Luca grinned brightly, looking for the praise Shu usually gave.
"No! I… What about my mum? My sister? They're still stuck with him!" Shu protested, forcing himself to move forward. What if his father hurt them? He would never live with himself!
"Relax," Luca sighed, sounding like Shu was just throwing a tantrum, "We faked your death while in your home so your dad got put under suspicion. He's been arrested and your mother and sister are alive. Well, they think you're dead but they're fine."
"What?! And what do you mean, 'we'?"
"Oh, Vox, Ike, Mysta, Uki, you know, our friends! And my parents!" Luca smiled, confessing to a crime as if it were nothing. "So… funny story, my family's part of a mafia, and our friends… they were children of my fathers' associates who were asked to guard me! Don't worry, they're real friends! They like you!" Luca said, wrapping Shu in a tight hug, and this time, Shu doesn't feel loved, he feels trapped.
But what could he do? If he was presumed dead, no one would be looking for him. And if he returned, then the basis of his father's arrest would vanish and then his mother and sister would be forced to stay with him again.
"Then, what's going to happen to me then? If they think I'm dead, what will I do?" Shu mumbled, looking up at Luca, his eyes already losing their light. Luca coos, even without trying Shu has already broken, wasn't that just perfect?
"Don't worry, Shu," Luca nuzzles against his neck, "You won't ever have to worry about anything ever again. You have me. You just need me. Our friends will be here too, no one will ever hurt you again."
Shu lets his body relax, whether it was the drug still in his system or it was him finally giving up, he wasn't sure, but all he knew was that in Luca's arms, in Luca's world, Shu was safe.
Shu was the most important thing in Luca's world, so wouldn't it be okay to just stay here?
