Chapter Text

The diner was quiet, the sound of dishes clanking against each other filling up the room.

The sun was hiding behind clouds, giving the grey and dull weather a chance to shine, forcing a grey blanket all over the place.

Other than a few customers filling up tables the establishment sat empty and lifeless, light instrumentals attempting and failing to create a nice ambience.

Soap sat facing someone, his face full of sincerity and nervousness. "Ever since we.." His face showed an unsure smile, shifting his weight on the cracked leather couch. "You're the only person that I've ever..." he stopped mid sentence, as if to think of what to say next.

His smile grew a tad bit wider, looking at the window to evade eye contact with her as he wiped his sweaty palms on the fabric of his pants.  "Sorry this is weird, I don't usually talk like this" he confessed to her truthfully, mind calling him dumb for blurting that out suddenly.

"No, it's okay" she reassured. Soap's smile bleeding out as he regained seriousness. "I feel like I'm coming apart" Soap said, a drag between each word.

"I think about you all the time, Simon" his voice was soft at the confession, giving her space to process everything, not rushing anything. The feeling of dread consumed him before he said the final sentence, setting everything in stone.

"I try not to...You're in every song I listen to" a breath "You were the only person who was nice to me when I moved here, And at first I thought maybe you.." he stopped, regretting starting that sentence.

His breathing was quicker now from the anxiety of the moment, a bad taste filling his mouth.

"And then after Nana passed you were the one that called, even when I didn't have anything to say and we just.. sat there" he recalled the memory.

Ghost was the first person who called to check up on him after the loss, even though not a word was exchanged, it helped him deeply during the grieving.

"But maybe you should know.. I would choose you over everything" he confessed finally, a small small adorning his face as he closed off the speech. The woman let out a small chuckle, a smile creeping up on her face too as she reacted with happiness to his cheesy speech.

"No, stop, that was so cringy, just stop. That freaked me out, Ghost would vomit" Price urged, who was sat up on a stool higher than them. "You told me to pour my heart out, do you know how vulnerable I just got?" Soap argued, a slightly irritated and annoyed tone plaguing his words.

"You gotta be less sappy with Ghost, okay? you know he doesn't like that shit, hell he'd cringe out of his mind" Price explained calmly, Ghost was never really the type to like sappy, cheesy confessions like they had on tv, he found them corny and overdone.

"Maybe give him flowers, or candies which he likes?" the waitress who was playing as ghost suggested, though Price quickly brushed her off, thanking her for going through the trouble to help soap, an indirect request for her to leave them alone.

"Oh god that was so embarrassing, Can we just leave?" Soap complained, covering his reddened face with his hands as price moved over to fill the empty space the waitress occupied a second ago.

"No, and have you ever like ..flirted with ghost?" he asked, genuinely curious as to if soap ever dropped hints or just threw a truck load to process at once, even though he knew soap was absolute shit at flirting in any way or form.

Soap shook his head, earning a heavy sigh from Price

"Be playfully mean to him, y'know? Bring up Freaky ghost or something"

"You want me to call him freaky ghost? you know he's sensitive about that right?" He wasn't keen on calling ghost that name, unsure of how he would react to it.

"Or you can be like 'Hey remember when you used to get bullied and everyone called you Freaky Ghost?' and he'll be like 'Oh my god soap that was so long ago' or something along those lines" Price argued, trying to make up a good reason to bring up that nickname ghost was teased about as a kid. It seemed a bit mean.

"And that will like...take his breath away?" Soap questioned, not bothering to hide his doubt of Price's plan.

"Just be like 'hey Nikki we should grab a drink sometime'" Price suggested, over exaggerating his hand movements to mimic soap.

"Yeah ,I do and he always invites you, I ask you not to come for one night and you never listen" Soap accused, tired of price always showing up whenever soap planned to confess.

"You can't ask her out for drinks, I love going out for drinks, its all I have at this point" he argued, desperate not to cancel out his wednesday plans for a years late confession.

"God i can't get over how embarrassing I looked back there" soap proposed, rubbing his hands together while trying to change the subject.

"You can't turn our weekly gathering into your eight year late prom-posal, soap." Price interjected, refusing to acknowledge his attempt at focusing on something else.

"Then when do I ask?"

"Any other time! If he means this much to you -which I know he does- do it at the right time." he exasperated, throwing his hands up in irritation at soap's ridiculousness. All he wanted was for him to wait for the right time to tell ghost, not cough it up at the worst timing possible and make a fool of himself.

"Okay. Okay I'll do it right" Soap said, trying to get Price off his tail.

Price nodded his head slowly, grabbing his half finished drink as he took a sip, urging soap to follow his next words closely.

"Now say it with me, All you have is time." He said, stretching out the last few words, expecting soap to repeat it.
