Chapter Text
Peter Parker had never had the best luck. His Aunt May had always let out a light laugh whenever fate decided to throw another wild card into his life, joking about his famous ‘Parker luck’ would always strike him at the worst times. He let himself feel a pang of sadness wash over him as he thought back to his Aunt while sitting in his advanced science class that was chatting around him excitedly. He was broken from his train of thought by his best friend Ned shaking his arm wildly.
“Dude, isn't this sooo exciting? Do you think we’ll get to see any avengers? Do you think we’ll get to see what Tony is working on? Do you think we’ll get to take a tour of his LAB?”
Peter looked at his best friend with a dazed expression before reality came crashing back to him. Just before he got lost in the memory of his beloved Aunt May, Mr Harrington had finally announced their end of year field trip. But to Peter's horror (and Parker luck his Aunt would have said) The field trip was to be a weekend long field trip to Stark Industries, the most famous tower in New York that was leading the world in scientific work as well as being the home for numerous adventures. Peter once again forced himself to focus back on his friend who was practically buzzing next to him.
“Ned you have met so many Avengers, you’re on a nickname basis with Bruce Banner and you have been in Tony's lab to help me with Spiderman business on the regular.”
He whispered the last part so no one around them could hear. Then another thought struck him.
“Ned, you came over for movie night last Friday and convinced Loki to help you build your newest Starwars lego set.”
Ned to his credit didn’t seem to let his friend's pessimistic attitude change his mind about how cool this trip was definitely going to be. Taking a second to remember the moment Loki had finally said yes to the young boys pleading and picturing his face the moment the god had realised how cool lego actually was he responded to Peter,
“Yeah but this is going to be like an actual tour! We’re going to get to see so much of the tower and all the projects and…”
Peter zoned out as his friend continued to ramble on about all the ways this field trip was going to be amazing, glazing at MJ who had begun furiously sketching in her crisis book, he could only guess he was currently her latest victim but the smirk he caught from her before he dropped his head to his desk let him know that his suspicion was probably right.
Peter felt a small warning from his body telling him to move but he resisted the urge as something hit the back of his head. He glazed around and saw Flash and his goons smirking to each other as he picked up the scrunched up piece of paper that had been thrown as this head.
“Are you ready to have all your lies exposed, Parker?” the note read in messy hand writing.
Peter sighed. Technically he was a liar. For the last three years Peter had been telling his peers at school he had an internship at Stark Industries to avoid questions being raised if he was ever seen entering the building. Originally his only purpose of being there was on Spiderman business but after his Aunt had died last year in a car crash Tony motherfucking Stark had adopted him and he now lives in the building alongside his adoptive parents, his drop dead gorgeous boyfriend, and several avengers that were far more domesticated than Peter thought they had any right to be. That being said Peter was still a huge nerd and spent most of his time in various different labs in the building but does that mean he actually had an internship? No.
Peter scrunched up the note in his hand and threw it into the bin across the room, aiming perfectly. Seeing that he hadn’t managed to get a rise out of Peter, Flash decided to speak up this time.
“Oi penis, I can’t wait to see your face when I expose you to Stark industries for not having an internship. Do you think they’ll ban you from entering the property for the rest of your life? It’s not like that would matter, everyone knows you’re never going to be smart enough to work there.”
Peter glanced at Mr Harrington at the front of the class who was doing his best to look everywhere but the confrontation happening in his class. MJ sighed from beside him, probably noticing the same thing Peter did and spoke up.
“You know Flash you spew a lot of homophobic shit but with the sheer amount of times you bring up Peter's genitals are you sure you’re not secretly crushing on him?”
Flash’s mouth fell open like a fish and his face turned a shade of red Peter didn’t think was possible for the human body to achieve. Flash tried to come up with a retort but only managed to stutter a few sounds before shutting up. Peter shot MJ a grateful look that she pretended not to notice but Peter saw the small smirk that had taken its place on her face and knew that she had got the message.
Mr Harrington began speaking as he made his way around the class passing out sheets of paper.
“Now the trip will begin this Friday morning and end on Sunday afternoon. You will all be staying in the tower for two nights so you must pack accordingly. Remember you are not only representing yourselves but also the school so I expect everyone to be on their best behaviour while we are there. The forms I am handing out are permission slips and non-disclosure agreements which need to be signed and handed back to me by tomorrow afternoon.”
Mr Harrington stopped and stared at Peter for a second when he got to his desk.
“See me after class Mr Parker” He said to which Peter just simply nodded his head.
The rest of the class was a blur, Mr Harrignton had given up trying to teach today and was busy fiddling with his computer while his class talked loudly around him. Peter stared absentmindedly at his friend as he chattered excitedly about all of the possibilities for the trip. In his head he was coming up with ways to get these damn slips signed without alerting everyone in the tower of his situation. Peter mentally groaned as he thought of all of the embarrassment he would be subjected to if the fucking avengers found out he was taking a tour of his own god damn fucking house. His thoughts were once again interrupted by the piercing sound of the final school bell ringing signaling the end of class. The students around him leapt out of their chairs and sprinted out the door, probably trying to get their slips signed as soon as possible. Peter strolled up to Mr Harrington's desk at the front of the class and the two waited silently while the last of the students left the room.
“Now Peter I know that for lack of a better phrase your life hasn’t exactly been very easy.” He paused momentarily considering his next words. “However, I’m sure you understand how important this field trip is to your peers and for this school. Now with that being said I need you to promise me that you aren’t going to bring up your supposed internship while we are at Stark Industries, it is important that we present ourselves properly and having a student lie about an internship definitely does not represent us well.”
Peter just stared at this teacher in utter disbelief. He knew his classmates didn’t believe him but to have a teacher blatantly call him a liar was like being punched in the gut. He took a moment to consider his options before finally saying,
“Okay Mr Harrignton, whatever you want.”
The teacher seemed pleased with his response and nodded his head towards the door, silently dismissing him and Peter all too happily took the opportunity to sprint out of the room. He continued making his way out towards the entrance of the school, his eyes scanning for Happy's car, instead he was met with the incredible sight of his boyfriend, Harley fucking Keener, leaning up against his motorbike, passionately playing with his phone while several girls stood nearby staring and whispering to their friends. Peter felt the tension he had been feeling slip away as he strode up to his boyfriend and yelled “boo” in his face, startling the slightly older boy. Laughing Harley tossed Peter a spare helmet and they both hopped on the bike and began making their way back home.
The ride home was peaceful and it gave Peter time to come up with a plan. His Aunty Nat was excellent at forging signatures and had been signing everything Peter needed under her pseudonym Natalie Rushman. On top of that she was a master spy and if Peter played his cards right she wouldn’t tell the rest of the team about his dreaded field trip. Smiling slightly at his plan he relaxed into his boyfriend's shoulders and let his mind wander as they continued back to the tower.
