Chapter Text
ANTE
For a few years now, there had been a "creepy pasta" circulating online in which an individual could perform a ritual to join a paranormal event commonly referred to as The Games. It seemed like just another trend online at first, until a few weeks post the initial records of The Games. Number of people passing away for no apparent reason began to rise. Only thing in common with the deaths, was the fact that all of them had the materials to perform the ritual somewhere in their bedroom. To avoid mass hysteria, the posts were simply taken down, but as every one knows. Nothing is ever truly gone in the internet.
The Games: An event occurring somewhere in a the world of human collective consciousness. Players voluntarily join the games by performing a ritual before going to sleep. It is always highly encouraged to read our guidelines prior to signing ones life away. The ritual is performed by redacted***
…
Anyway.
Once a player joins The Games, their consciousness gets sent to our lobby. Where they're able to customize their gear with final touches (Main parts of the gear are arranged prior to starting, during the ritual to be precise). Players are all given an hour to prepare, rules will be gone over every round. Any other information is included in the pact.
The Games consist of 8 rounds, each with their own sub-levels. To advance to the next round, players must complete sub levels, collecting points. Throughout the games, players have a health bar. Which also works as a meter, there are checkpoints within the health bars. Once a players health bar passes all checkpoints, they're eliminated. To avoid reaching said checkpoints, players have to collect as many points as they can each sub level.
Players are allowed to team up, as a matter of fact teamwork is highly encouraged in The Games. Thanks to recent updates, players are now able to recognize each other in the "waking world". A mark resembling of a scar on a players neck, will be faintly visible outside of the main server. While during the games, the scar is a collar. Once a player is eliminated, they're mark disappears due to redacted***
*What are the requirements for a players gear during customization?:
-Must include a sort of glasses/eye wear
-collar is mandatory, no you can't customize it you freak. The collar checks vitals. That's all it does. We swear.
-all weapons MUST be wearable. Ex: a hair pin that turns into a sword, an earring that doubles as a device.
-cannot have a gear item that has aimbot, or guaranteed shot unless its specified in the agreement prior to the games (during the ritual/documents)
-gear can be designed to bypass certain rules if blood is used. Ex: users blood added to gear, results in guaranteed hit.
Other rules apart from the basics? You'll figure them out as you go.
Players can meet up by chance in the waking world, they cannot arrange a meet up online. Only mentions of the games online have to be the ritual itself, nothing about how the game runs.
Before every level, a player is allowed to make changes to gear. Players, as previously stated, get one hour. Any flaws of the designs can and will come back to cause your elimination.
This is all the information you get without the ritual. Want to know more? The ritual is harmless. Make sure to read between the lines, don't just sign everything placed before you. games are played by the most desperate. Think twice before joining.
