Work Text:
You and Ricket have been running around Queen Tyneen’s battle cruiser all day, refilling plasma blasters, checking if the fodder cloner was in tip-top shape, cleaning the makeshift gym… and whatever space pirates do.
At the end of the day, you two settled into your shared living quarters. You collapse onto your bed with a sigh, your sore bones aching from the chores of today. Ricket is already laying in his own bed, kicking his feet like a schoolgirl while he watches something on his phone while grinning.
You reposition yourself to look at him better, and once he notices you staring, he flinches and nearly drops his phone. “A-” He yelps, faint blush on his cheekbones. “Y/N! You scared me..”
It’s so cute how he tends to be skittish around you, even though you’ve been dating for like a month.
“Whatcha watching?”
“Uhhh-” He throws the phone into the air, which lands not so far behind him. “-nothing!”
God, he’s so goofy.
“Come onnn, show me!” You make grabby hands towards his phone, but are unable to reach.
“Awww, look at those wittle hands!” He takes your hands in his, which are, in fact, much bigger than yours. “Okay okay, I’ll tell you.” He sits up on the edge of the bed, and you follow suit.
“I came across a video that said cuddling improves your health!”
“Is that why you were smiling at your phone? Were you imagining us cuddling?” You smirk.
“UHHH…” He starts blushing again. “I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS A NEAT FACT IT DOESN’T HAVE TO MEAN ANYTHING- and I don’t want to rush you!!”
“Ricket.” You put your hands on his shoulders. “It’s been one month. That’s four weeks. Twenty eight days if you want to be more specific.”
“…and…?”
“Trinity, you’re such a numbskull.” (It’s okay to say that slur because you’re an osteon too.)
You grab his skull and bump against his teeth with your own. He lets out a startled noise as you pull him in, soon muffled by the kiss.
Your pink fire mingles with his cyan flame, fusing into a lavender inferno. You can feel your energies clashing against each other before resolving, becoming one and the same.
You can feel his anxiety.
He can feel your enthusiasm.
And it all mixes into anticipation.
The emotions stir for a few more moments before you pull away. You two stare at each other with new understanding of each other in your eyes.
Ricket is the first to speak once he gathers the courage. “Does this mean we can cuddle now?”
You chortled at his humble question after everything that just transpired. “Yes, yes we can- OOF-”
Before you can gather yourself, Ricket pounces on you and pushes you into the mattress with only his sheer weight. “Ricket- You’re crushing me-” Ricket begins purring while using you as his very own personal pillow.
A single tear runs down your cheek as you accept your fate with a smile. Worth it.
