Chapter Text
This is it.
OJ took a deep breath in an attempt to calm his nerves, double checking his pocket. This moment… it needed to be perfect. This was something they would both remember for the rest of their lives.
“…Paper… we’ve been together for around 2 years now, and we’ve been friends for even longer.”
“Oh my- Oj??” Paper’s hands flew to his mouth,
“I… think it’s time we take the next step. I’ll be willing to spend the rest of my life with you, if you’ll take me.” Slowly, OJ descended onto one knee, pulling a velvet black ring box from his pocket.
OJ’s hands shook as he opened the box, revealing a silver ring with a diamond in the middle. (A/N: basic.) “Paper.. will you marry me?”
“I- YES!” Paper collapsed onto the floor, pulling OJ toward him. The ring box clattered onto the floor as Paper’s hold tightened, peppering kisses all over OJ’s glass surface.
The lobby echoed with the sounds of OJ’s laughter and Paper’s… whatever Paper was doing. “Heh- Paper! I haven’t even given you the ring yet!” He pulled back, grabbing the discarded ring box from the floor. Huh. Seems like the fall snapped it shut.
By the time he turned back to Paper, he already had his right hand extended towards him. After he quickly slipped the silver ring onto Paper’s ring finger, OJ kissed his hand before letting go and standing back up. (A/N: they have fingers alright 🥹)
Something OJ hadn’t noticed before was… it smelled like… Sulfer? And he felt a little dizzy… “Paper, do you smell that?”
“Yeah, I was going to tell you before, but I guess I got a little distracted…”
Wait. Oh shit- “Paper, is there a gas leak?? We need to warn everyo-“
BOOM.
…
From the steps of Purgatory Mansion, Marshmallow watched in horror as the hotel burned down.
Apple was in there. She knew that because she had given her a letter to give to Paintbrush just to avoid everyone in the hotel.
Damnit.
