When it’s silent.

Summary:

Sydney talks to himself. Thats it. Free my boy.

Work Text:

It’s quiet. Too quiet. It feels uneasy and uncomfortable. Like slime.

It’s late, Sydney.

“I know.” And you’re talking to yourself again. “…” Go to sleep. Nothing will happen. “You don’t know that. He could still be out there!” Shhh, keep it down. You don’t want them to think you’re crazier than they already do, right?

“…Right…right. You’re right.” I’m right? Aren’t I you, Sydney? “…” Never mind. Don’t think about it too much. “……”

Don't go quiet on me, Sydney. I know we’re still awake. “Me. Not we. There is no we.” Aw, now don’t go snapping at me. “No, you’re not real. It’s just me in here.” Then why are you still speaking? “…” Mhm.

An exhaling breath sounds softly. Sydney can’t tell if it was him or not.

“…” You want to go see Jedidiah. “…” Don't ignore me. “You don’t know what I want. Ah, there you are. “…” You can’t lie to me. I am you, after all. “Shut up.” Rude.

The sharp noise of a bed creaking fills the room as Sydney shifts. It quiets everything for a moment.

“…” Just admit it, Sydney.. you want him “Don’t- don’t say it like that!” Are you chastising your own thoughts right now? God, you are helpless. “……”

“I know.”

Notes:

At least, he believes he’s talking to himself. Who really knows? And who’d believe the crazy person anyway.?
