It has been more than a century since we parted.
I went to work for Mr Owl after that. It's not very different from the work we did at the Vanderboom house, except that there is considerably more intrigue.
Don’t frown, Kate. I have long since grown used to it—a day ends and a new task arrives, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's worse.

I remember one day you complained that working for the Vanderbooms felt like being Sisyphus, punished to repeat the same task for eternity.
I told you it was not so bad—at least I could leave three days later.
