Chapter Text
Glowing in the deep expanse of the universe where Xor floats to his inevitable doom lies the stars who watch another body mercilessly thrown out and sent to a fruitless future where they travel endlessly to no one knows where exactly. This scene isn’t unfamiliar to them, as they’ve been witnessing countless of the same people marching to their deaths, wrapped around in their little dome of darkness that kept cries and wishes nobody in particular heard.
Although certain that the pitch-black dome blocked any possibilities of seeing any form of light, the stars kept a habit of twinkling a tad bit brighter, in hopes that they remain reminded of the fact that they are not alone in this vast collection of dots and wormholes. They were all the same kind of heartbreak, the stars would occasionally weep at their sobs whilst wishing them safe travels, hoping their bodies don’t get sucked near Jupiter or anything of the same nature as their breath faded and drew to a loss and end.
However, the sobs and cries of this man were different. It wasn’t of himself, hopelessly asking why fate dragged him to such an awful end. It wasn’t an oath of revenge to whoever foresaw their judgement, swearing to get them in the next life. It wasn’t of regret, reminiscing in both anger and melancholy about how they spent the life they had carelessly and foolishly.
Instead, it was a plea to the universe, to the stars, to anything that listens to him; that he may live the life he wished with his lover free of the tragic end destiny had written for them in this timeline. Perhaps, in another universe, they wouldn’t be imprisoned and forced to compete on whose blood drips on the steel of the double-edged sword of a test.
The double-edged sword that stabbed him in this universe.
“O-Oh stars…cosmos…please…”
“Can I be hers…in the next life? Without…all this?”
“Please…let me love her…let me have her…”
“I don’t want her to die…and I don’t want to die too…”
Contrary to the ritual of their shine gleaming more, this time, it dimmed in a frown as the stars could hear his breath hinging closer and closer to its last.
“She’s the only one…I love her…so…much…”
Tears dropped in mourning unison as the beat of his heart sang of its last, his life nothing but as devoid of the space he’d be in until no telling when. All the stars fell quiet at the silence of the first message they heard, knowing they must do one thing. To grant him of his wish.
For the first time, the stars took a dead man’s wish rather than giving them one.
The stars and asteroids and everything else sang of a love unfortunate to end in one universe, and a wish that it fares well in another. Whispers reached far, far, far beyond the great expanse of their universe to another, where their tale was still preserved and untainted of the cruel game for survival set against them. Hearing of the ill-fated romance, the stars nodded and shook a feasible amount of stardust unto the other version of the pair, kissing them a wish of true love as the story began to write itself again all same yet all different at the same time.
A love that transcended time and the universe itself.
