What Is This Fic?
So, yeah. I ended up writing another version of the transfer deal with Dazai rejoining the mafia.... idk how this happened either! I was going to write like a "what if Dazai never joined the ADA" and I had it all planned out. But then I just lost motivation for it after the first chapter, idk why. And I kept just thinking of different scenarios for this story, but obviously my other story "Light and Dark" is already completed so I can't add them there. So what do I do? Well, when in doubt just double down and create an entirely different story based on the same premise as the last one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So yeah, that happened. If you haven't read "Light and Dark" and wanna read a complete fic about Dazai transferring then go read that one, I think it's 14 chapters (or was it 16? Idk I don't remember tbh). Anyways, so back to this fic.
Usually I never post things unless I'm completed with the whole story. I hate the idea of leaving a work unfinished but I know myself and the VAST majority of all my work never is completed. I'd say that, no exaggeration, maybe 1% (if even that) of all my stories are completed. Like I've written stories since I learned how to write. Out of all of those only the five you see here have been completed (plus one more but idk if we count it cause I really need to rewrite it sort feels incomplete anyways). But as much as I thought that I also thought maybe I'd try something new and see if publishing as I write will give me more motivation to complete it?
(Tbh I still hesitated but I ultimately decided to thanks to a comment on my other fic so if you end up liking this story (completed or not) then go thank/blame happyGolucky_hehe for convincing me)
And unlike my other story like my What if Sirius Raised Harry series, this is not a series where I need to make sure things stay consistent and correct and all of that for multiple books. So, anyways I'm sorry in advance if this ends up abandoned. I really hope this works and I continue this to the end bc it's a nice and much needed break from writing Harry Potter rn (seriously I have writer's block specifically for that and nothing else, so annoying). I kinda don't know where this story is going exactly (I have a vague plan) and, well, sorry for probably super inconsistent updates like three one day and then nothing for months (yes I know myself and this is prob what'll happen). Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language. And anything that goes against canon, I'm sorry of I forgot an accidentally did that (mind you only anime canon bc I haven't read the manga/novel yet. I'm working on it!) I'm super trying not to but I might have forgotten something.
I really hope you like this story, leave me lots and lots of comments because that is really my motivation to write more and (hopefully) not abandon this!
Also, heads up, when this idea came to me I was reading a really great story (can't remember this second I'll link it below) and it's sort of a "mean agency" story, like that's the premise. Not like evil just uncaring towards Dazai. So that sort of really bled into this fic, but it's mostly in the beginning just bc I wanted the angst bc idk I'm evil ig. So (I can't remember if this is the case in the anime) but the ADA haven't really heard his crimes listed, like they know he was an exec and all and he was arrested but they haven't actually heard his crimes yet (at least in my version I can't remember canon rn I'm writing this foreword past 1 at night, like I should so be sleeping I'm dead tired).

What's Canon & Not?
S1-5 of the anime. Book & Manga do not exist for my intents & purposes. Except the post Credit Scene S5 though. It's non existent for my intents & purposes.
Also for quotes & stuff I almost entirely exclusively use the dub, sorry for adamant sub supporters but I like to do things while watching anime and that's kinda hard if I have to read the subtitles at the same time and, idk if I've mentioned this, I DON'T SPEAK JAPANESE

Set The Scene
Vampires - Let's just have them all be nullified by Dazai touching Bram and it'll be like they never exited in the first place bc I ain't dealing with that
Fyodor - Dead. Very, very dead.
Sigma - Dead bc well I don't want to deal with him bc I'm not sure how to write him, he has too little screen time for me to get a good enough grasp of his personality I feel confident I can do him justice
Title
The title I choice (after much deliberation at one o'clock at night, the best time to think and make important decisions) is from the song "Reason Living" by SCREEN mode which is the intro song to the Dark Era.
Felt fitting plus Lyrics fits (no surprise, it's the intro) really well. Or at least the English translated version I found since I do not speak or read Japanese (I assume the song is in Japanese, idk I don't speak/read any asian language so I wouldn't know)
Sections (MINOR SPOILERS)
So in my planning I have sort of divided all this to sections. As of rn it has 5 (or 6 ig) sections or acts or whatever you want to call it. So without trying to spoil too much the sections I have planner (more or less) are (minor spoiler ahead ig):
0. Prologue
1. Pre-Deal ADA
2. The Deal
3. Back In Port Mafia
4. New Light
5. New Threat
They are really different length and obviously how well they're planned just slowly shrinks into nothingness (plus more sections may arise later).
So prologue is, well it's just the prologue. Sort of establishing a few things, it includes 1 ch (the prologue).
Section 1, the pre-deal ADA, obviously covers everything before the deal takes place. This is longer than in my other Transfer fic "Light and Dark" (shameless plug go read it). It has mean ADA and maybe some OOC moments and a full on Dazai spiral mental breakdown so yeah uhm you've been warned.
Section 2, The deal. Well it's pretty obvious that includes the deal and the immediate reactions as well. To this point things have been pretty planned but about halfway through this one things very quickly go from "well planned" to "I literally have no clue what's going to happen" so it'll probably stall at this section for a while.
Section 3, Back in the PM, the title says pretty much everything. I haven't really figured or planned this section out past just the overarching like of him going back.
Section 4, new light. Again, really isn't planned at all past that it's basically more ADA focused on how they are now starting to perceive Dazai differently
Section 5, new threat. This part is honestly not planned at all past a single scene I have in mind that literally started this whole fic. This is the section where copy-cat Mimic is introduced (which I can say without it being spoilers bc I put it in the summary). Honestly idk what is going to happen (ideas and wishes are very much appreciated for what you want to see).

Update Schedule
So I have a few chapters prepared that I guess I'll post one by one every day or so (if I remember) so I can uhm draw it out and buy myself some more time to actually write the rest of the chapters.
But when we catch up and I run out of prepped and ready chapters to post (bc that will happen quickly) then the update schedule will probably get SUUUUPLE inconsistent ngl. I have no discipline for a strict schedule.
EDIT: As of ch 19 I have decided that I will post weekly. At this moment I haven't decided what day of the week that is so drop a comment on the announcement ch (ch 20) if you have a preference and if I haven't picked already I'll probably just go with whatever you say.
