Work Text:
Martin Blackwood was a great fan of Polish culture. In spite of all his efforts, he hadn't inspired others enough to satisfy himself. He dreamed of getting more his friends to like the same things as he did, so, yes, he finally made it. It was February and he'd managed to convince Jon to let him set up Tłusty Czwartek [twustey chvaertek] in the office.
Firstly, he explained to all his coworkers what Fat Thursday was and how Poles celebrated it. Obviously, Jon didn't see any sense in it, probably because he didn't like sweets as much as Martin, however the rest seemed pleased.
"So, they basically eat this weirdly named fried dough and call it a feast day?" Jon crossed his arms. "We do the same. It's our Pancake Tuesday. And pancakes are far better." He stopped for a moment, looking around at his colleagues' disgusted faces. "What the fuck is wrong with this country? Eating fatty stuff for fun? It's fattier than chips!"
"Jon can't celebrate," Tim assumed, devouring his second pączek. "Lord... Martin, give him a pączek, he's too grumpy because he hadn't had one yet."
Martin extended his hand with a box filled with pączki. There were rose-flavoured ones with icing sugar on top of them, advocat-flavoured with white icing and coconut ones with whipped cream and a little bit of rose jam inside (on top of them was chocolate icing). Jon looked at them unconvinced but took one. It was rose-flavoured because it looked simple to him, without many different...ingredients inside. Jon was a picky eater so it was hard to him to eat something out of his menu, especially if it was greasy and sweet at the same time. He took a bite and... to say it was an epiphany would be an understatement. It was heaven. Jon with his poor eating habits felt as though he hadn't ever eaten anything this good. It was definitely better than sex, he thought, licking the rose jam off of his lower lip. It was soft and addicting like reading a statement or two, or getting into Tim's flat.
"What do you think, Jon?" Martin asked. Mr. Sims realised he could've hurt his feelings.
And there was silence.
"Could I have another one?"
Sasha rolled her eyes to Tim. "I didn't expect that," he hummed, watching how Jon tasted a coconut pączek. Whipped cream fell on his chin. Martin was the first to wipe it with his thumb.
Tim was literally feeling as if he were watching a low-budget gay porn so he took one pączek more and nodded at Sasha to walk out of the break room.
He swore he didn't want to look at delighted Jon any longer.
When he did his best to escape this horrible break with Sasha, he bumped into Elias carrying two boxes of donuts. Martin's face was indescribable. He went red and looked just like a furious bull.
Elias grinned at him, placing the boxes on the table.
"I've heard about your... new traditions so I thought I could help with that."
"So you brought some donuts?" Martin sighed.
"What is wrong with donuts?"
"They aren't Polish. They generally don't eat that on Tłusty Czwartek..."
"But I'm sure I would eat that if I were Polish," said Tim, choosing a pink one.
Elias took one with green icing. He started eating it by dividing it into smaller parts. How sophisticated, thought Martin. Elias gazed back at him, sending him images of... Martin was too ashamed to admit but he'd like that.
"Taste a polish one, boss," Tim said.
"Thanks, but I have to fit in this suit," he answered. "Did Rosie get one?"
"No, she didn't," Martin replied.
"Well, I'll take one for her." He looked into Jon's mind and chose a coconut pączek.

"Do you really think he took it for Rosie?" Sasha asked.
"Of course not," Tim laughed.
The End
