“Just consider it a good-luck drink,” Draco said, using his silver tongue. Unknown to Harry, he had a full plan to ruin his last week at Hogwarts by slipping him a truth potion, and this was the only way he could think of to do it.
“I’m not sure,” Harry responded. It wasn’t that he wasn’t allowed to drink- being 18, he was more than able. He just knew he needed to focus; that’s why he was walking in the first place. After the battle, somehow Hermione had gotten him to go back to school for his final year. Perhaps he’ll thank her for that later.
Draco had caught Harry after hours in the corridor outside a couple of empty classrooms. For whatever reason, Draco had a bottle of wine and a chalice with him. He pulled Harry into the classroom.
Harry and Draco didn’t quite make up through the years at Hogwarts, but Harry didn’t hate him by any means. In fact, he had some kind of… feelings. He wasn’t sure what kind, but he wasn’t about to try to figure that out right before their final tests.
Draco, similar to Harry, had the same feelings. But he chose to act on them in hate. His father would never allow his son to be… he couldn’t even think it.
Harry was standing awkwardly in front of the front desk, while Draco lounged in the chair behind it, wearing an expectant look.
Harry inhaled deeply. “Fine. But just one.”
Draco smiled widely. “Excellent, Potter. You need to loosen up more,” he said, pouring wine into the chalice. He handed it to Harry.
Harry climbed up on the desk and sat, sipping on the wine. A few sips in, he felt the alcohol take hold, loosening his tense muscles and his tongue.
“So what are your plans after Hogwarts?” Draco asked, testing the potion.
“I’ll probably just go and become an Auror,” Harry said, crossing his feet on the desk. “Honestly, that’s not what I want to do, though.”
Draco smirked slightly. “What do you want to do?”
Harry smiled. “I’d actually love to be the Defense teacher here.”
“Oh?” Draco questioned. He was actually shocked by it.
“Yes, but that requires a higher NEWT score, and I’m not sure I’ll get that.” he looked down at the chalice and took a larger drink.
Draco snorted. Harry looked at him pointedly. “But you’re Harry Potter. You literally have an opening for whatever you want to do,” Draco argued.
“Well, if I’m no more than a blundering oaf, I can’t do very much, can I?” Harry argued back.
“You’re not an oaf,” Draco said, brows furrowed. He didn’t expect it to go this way at all.
“Why? All you’ve done is hate me for the last 8 years. Clearly, you think so, just like everyone else,” Harry snapped.
Draco was stunned into silence for awhile, before he stood, taking the chalice from Harry and downing the rest of it.
“Hey!” Harry said, more surprised than annoyed.
“I don’t hate you,” Draco said, swaying lightly, before sitting back into the chair.
Harry’s brows furrowed. “You don’t?”
Draco laughed. “Not in the slightest.”
Harry became suspicious. “What’s in that wine?”
Draco didn’t even try to fight it. “Truth potion.”
“What??” Harry’s eyes went wide.
“Don’t worry. It’ll wear off before dawn,” Draco reasoned.
Harry adjusted to be sitting directly in front of Draco, his legs still crossed on the desk. “Why did you-?”
“Because I wanted to learn something about you that you don’t want anyone to know, so I could ruin your last week of Hogwarts. I don’t want to do that anymore, by the way,” Draco rambled, staring up at Harry, looking at the curves of his shoulders as he tensed and relaxed. “You’re so hot,” Draco mumbled.
Harry’s brows shot up. “What was that??”
Draco’s face burned. “Please don’t make me repeat that.”
Harry tapped his chin in dramatic thought. “Hmm, actually I think that’s a good payback for all of this. Yes, what did you say? This time, say it loud enough, or I’ll keep asking.”
Draco groaned and said, at a fairly decent volume, “You’re. So. Hot. Happy?”
Harry grinned. “I am, actually. By the way, you’re hot too.”
Draco’s jaw dropped. “What…?”
“I’ve been fighting with my feelings for you for a while now. Thanks to your truth potion here, I’ve figured it out. You’re hot, and I like you… a lot,” Harry explained candidly.
“I want to kiss you,” Draco said softly.
Harry hung his legs off the desk. “Then do it,” he said, challenging.
Draco stood, refusing to back down. He put his palms flat on the desk, on either side of Harry. Leaning in, he kissed him softly. Harry opened his legs, wrapping them around Draco’s waist, pulling him in. Draco made a surprised sound, but went with it, placing a hand on the back of Harry’s neck. The kiss got deeper until Draco was hovering over Harry, who was leaning back on the desk.
Footsteps sounded down the hall, and Draco pulled away quickly, blowing out the candle next to them. Harry sat up on the desk, but stayed quiet, listening to the steps.
When they eventually went away, both boys let out a relieved breath.
“So that happened,” Harry said.
When Draco looked back at Harry, he saw a beautiful mess. His hair ruffled, glasses crooked, and lips red and swollen.
“What now?” Draco questioned, sitting back into his chair. Harry used his lap as a leg rest, and Draco mindlessly massaged Harry’s calves.
“Could we maybe start our romantic fling after NEWTS? I fear Mione might kill me if I’m sneaking out instead of studying all the time,” Harry laughed dryly.
“How about we start our relationship after NEWTS?” Draco asked, catching Harry’s gaze.
Harry smiled, causing Draco to grin. “I’d like that.”
