A box of lie-filled papers

Summary:

Harry had just discovered Peter, his Peter was Spider-Man, and he didn't know what to believe from his bestfriend anymore.

Notes:

I made this at 2:30 am so sorry it's short and if there's mistakes :)
Enjoy!

Edit (5/10/26): I rewrote the entire fic because the dialogue was kinda cringey and I wanted it to be more emotional; I also made this at 1:40/1:50 am so sorry if it's short or if there's any mistakes!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Harry knows Parker's secret, why he's stuttered every excuse, every lie, for the past two years.

All to keep a secret he shouldn't have been keeping in the first place.

To to keep his alter-ego a secret.

He had lied to his face, to his bestfriend for two whole years, and Harry wasn't having it any longer.

Harry's arms slung over the windowsill, flicking open the newly installed curtains to see Peter.

"H-Harry! Nice to see you here, what are you doing here?" Pete nervously asked as the other made his way in through the gap in the window.

"We need to talk." Harry's voice was tainted with a bitterness he had never used on him, not till now atleast.

It made his heart clench, the other had never seemed so frustrated at him.

"Okay, what do we need to discuss?" He cautiously responded, turning fully from his desk to see Harry's face.

His brows were furrowed and anger was clearly strewn across his face.

"You're a goddamn liar Peter! You've been lying to me for two years!" The Osborn's arms were thrown up into the air with exasperation.

"What are you talking about Harry?" Peter stood up, truly confused till it clicked, two years, Spider-man.

"Don't! No, you can't just pull this shit, I know you're Spider-man. You've been lying to me for the past to years. To everyone!"

"I-Harry, look, I know how it may seem, but look, it was better that no one knew, it was safer."

"For you? Or for everyone else? Because I sure as hell don't feel any safer knowing my friend has been risking my safety by keeping this secret. I don't feel any better knowing you've been betraying my trust this entire time!" Tears well in the corners of his eyes and Harry's mouth quivers as he angrily spits the last words.

And when he does, that's when Peter realized this wasn't just about his safety, no, it was about their friendship.

And maybe he had never considered the effects he could have on their relationship, and maybe it was all coming to him now, and he realized the true weight of Harry's emotions.

"Harry, I didn't realize till now that you would feel like this by me hiding this from you."

"Well, I do, and you hid this from me for all this time, and I feel betrayed…"

"I know, and I'm sorry for that."

"I never wanted for it to end up like this."

Harry hiccupped as tears began to spill down his face.

Maybe he had originally planned to confront his friend about all his actions he had done as Spider-man but maybe, all he truly cared about was the fact Peter had felt like he needed to lie to him and couldn't trust him enough with the truth.

So perhaps that hurt more than any of the anger he had previously felt for Spider-man, and it probably would continue to.

Till they had sorted all the secrets Peter had felt like he needed to keep, but maybe, maybe after that their relationship would mend.

And by-chance, their relationship would be even closer than it was before.

Because they would be bonded by secrets they both held, together.
