Chapter Text

A couple of days have passed since Ladybugs plan took place.

Marinette is laying on her bed recalling her last conversation with Alya. They haven’t talked since she found out the truth about Monarch but that’s not the reason that this last interaction was on her mind.

She was debating whether it’s actually a good idea to keep hiding the truth from her boyfriend, she was planning to break up with him since she couldn’t bear to lie to him anymore while they’re still together but she couldn’t get Alyas words out of her mind.

“You can’t decide for other people what’s good for them”.

That’s verbatim what she told her when she found out as Rena Rouge the time they fought Revelator, before Chat Noir erased her memory.

“Tikki, do you think it’s time I tell him the truth? Alya’s right I shouldn’t get to decide what Adrian should or shouldn’t know about his own father!” She exclaimed.

“Marinette, this decision is up to you. I can’t tell you what to do, instead of debating whether you should tell him the inevitable or not, you should consult a person who’s willing to help you tell him the right way” she says, finishing the big plate of pastries Tom prepared for her.

Marinette sighs, she knows what to do, she has to get advice from her most loyal ally, but that’s would mean telling him the truth. But that was a risk she was willing to take.

Meanwhile Adrien is sitting on his bed, trying to figure out why his girlfriend despised his late father so much.

Wasn’t she the one who encouraged him to focus on his good side? What changed her mind about him, was it the fact that he was a control freak who wouldn’t let his son see the girl he loves?

He turns to Plagg who is eating a disgusting piece of cheese as usual.

“I don’t get it Plagg, Marinette used to be very eager for me to think well of my father. She hasn’t talked to me since she last came here.”

Plagg looks at him completely unbothered by the whole situation and swallows the last piece of slimy Camembert.

“You’re getting worked up over nothing. Maybe you should take a walk and calm down, or talk to someone you trust”.

Adrian shrugs his shoulders and tries to find a person he could talk to. Ladybug was already worked up he didn’t wanna pressure her, Nino doesn’t know that he is Chat Noir and that’s also one of the issues he wants to talk about.

He thought for a second then it hit!

“I could talk to Luka! He already knows my secret identity and he’s the most understanding person I know”.

Hearing this Plagg thought for a second.

“I’m hoping you call him”.

Adrian then looks at him with an empathetic look on his face.

“I’m sorry but, Plagg, claws out!”.

The kwami of destruction lets out a slight cry as he gets sucked inside his holders ring.

Chat noir then took a magical Camembert out of the magic portal on his stick and ate it, thus transforming into Astro Chat.

Right before he could take off he felt being called by Ladybug.

He flew to their arranged meeting spot and found her sitting by herself, staring at the moon.

He quietly powers down and sits next to her.

“Kitty, we need to talk” she said not letting her gaze off the dark night sky.

Chat noir nods reluctantly, since this sounds serious.

“The truth is…I-I…” Ladybug says on the verge of tears, not knowing the right words to tell her partner that she was protecting the supervillain they fought for almost a years and his identity.

“It’s okay m’lady, you know you can tell me anything” He says placing his hand on her shoulder and scooting an inch closer.

She wipes her tears and sniffles, “I lied okay? I lied to the entire world. Gabriel Agreste wasn’t a hero, quite the opposite actually, he was Monarch. He asked me to lie to everyone and especially his son, but I can’t, I can’t do this anymore, I need to tell him, if not anyone else him”.

Chat noir moves away from her slowly, his eyes locked on her with a horrified gaze. He tried to talk while Ladybug started sobbing her heart out and kept apologising to him.

“I know I did a bad thing kitty but I had to protect him from the truth but I think it’s time I tell him”.

The superhero of destruction didn’t move, he just redirected his look towards the sky. He thought for a second.

Should he snap to Ladybug as Adrian Agreste and reveal his secret identity or should he stay calm and figure out a plan while his whole world is falling apart.

“No”, he muttered.

“What do you mean kitty?”.

Chat Noir tried to find a reason for forbidding Ladybug to tell his other self the truth.

“I’ll tell him, just don’t interfere this time, I got this”.

Ladybug wanted to disagree or find reasoning behind Chat Noirs idea but she realised it wasn’t her place anymore. She owes it to him, after lying to him all this time and revealing the truth only when she couldn’t find it in her heart to keep it a secret anymore.

“I’m gonna go, take care and leave it to me” said Chat Noir after standing up, trying to keep a straight face.

Ladybug stood silent for a second but stopped Chat in his tracks.

“Chat noir wait!”

She runs after him and hugs him suddenly, with tears streaming down her cheeks.

“I am so sorry I lied to you” she said burying her face in his chest.

Chat Noir pats her head, “We will talk about this another time”.

He gently pushes Ladybug away and goes on his stick, leaving her to drop to her knees and continue to dramatically cry in the middle of the night on a random roof they once told jokes on.

After her little breakdown she throws her yo-yo towards her house leaving the scene wondering whether she officially ruined her relationship with who she thought would be her lifetime friend.
