Chapter Text
(Revenge.)
"7 years, 5 months, 25 days, and 47 seconds."
(She wanted it.)
"How many more seconds? How many more days? How many more months? How many more years?"
(She needed it.)
"You all told me a long time ago to sit back and accept the fact that until we get proof, real proof, there is absolutely nothing we can do. So that's what I'm doing, I'm sitting back and waiting for Grayson, Silco, and Vander to finally find some shred of evidence about what really happened back then, so I suggest you do the fucking same and stop spewing bullshit that will make seven years of work completely meaningless," Ekko snapped.
(She craved it.)
Marcus was sick of that woman getting credit for everything, even when she was far too weak to actually get anything done herself.
Grayson lacked the ability to make the hard decisions, to actually do what needed to be done.
(She was completely and utterly consumed by the need for it.)
"Do you really want the truth about what happened that night, or just confirmation that what you think is actually reality?" Silco asked, looking up at her.
(Revenge.)
"POWDER!" Vi screamed, tears blurring the world around her.
(You know how there are times in your life when your entire world changes in less than the blink of an eye?)
"I just wanted to protect you all… but I failed, and now? Now I'm wondering if there was even anything worth protecting in the first place," Vi said before she turned and left.
(When you are betrayed by everyone you have ever loved, and you never saw it coming because you were too busy being happy?)
"We were never happy!" Ekko yelled, "We were all just pretending, acting, like we were happy in this shit show of a city!" He grew quiet before he looked up at her, "None of this was ever real."
(…well, Jinx knew.)
Cait's eyes suddenly widened, "Vi watch out-"
BANG!
(People say, "That's life! Shit happens! You should be a bigger man and just let it go.")
"I trusted you!" Jinx screamed as she tried to pull away from the enforcers.
"I told you when you first got in here, kid," she said as she turned away from her, "Everyone will betray you."
(Well, she's a woman, so fuck that.)
"If you wanna change the world," Jinx said, looking over at the half-dead scientist, raising her glass, "don't ask for permission."
(She wanted her fucking revenge.)
"Do you love me!?" Caitlyn yelled as she spun around to face Vi, "Or do you only love who you pretend I am?"
(She wanted the Shakespearean, blood-soaked, painful, soul-crushing revenge…)
"What's the point, Claggor? I stopped being a part of this family the second I turned my back on her," Mylo said before he left Claggor standing there alone.
(And she would do whatever it takes to get it.)
"I thought you had learned your lesson the last time. Loving others, it only leads to pain."
(No matter what it cost her.)
Vi just smiled at her, "No matter what you do, no matter where you go, I'm always with you. Even when we're worlds apart."
(Her heart.)
Vi stared after her as Jinx brushed by her, "You stupid fool, Jinx. You fell in love with him."
(Her soul.)
"You really think I won't kill a child to get what I want?" Jinx asked as a smile spread across her face, "Oh, Marcus, it seems you still don't understand," she hissed into his ear, "there is nothing I won't do to get what I want."
(Her life.)
Jinx smiled at him as she dangled over the edge of the abyss, "Oh, Ekko," she said as she placed a hand on his cheek, smiling up at him before pulling him close and whispering in his ear, "you'll never save me."
Jinx shoved him away, sending herself plummeting into the darkness below.
(She will give it all to whatever devil promises her revenge.)
Smoke curled towards the ceiling as he responded, "All you have to do is say yes, and that lifelong dream of being an enforcer is yours."
(She would commit any number of unspeakable, horrible, destructive, torturous acts for her revenge.)
"I can't do this anymore, Claggor! All the lies and the guilt, I just can't take it anymore!" Mylo yelled.
(Whatever it takes.)
Vander didn't bat an eye, "Don't tempt me, Grayson, I'm just looking for an excuse to burn this fucking city to the ground."
(Whatever it costs.)
No one could ever understand how fragile this peace they all had was. How easily it would shatter if one single word was uttered of that day.
(She would make them suffer.)
"They always expect me to sit there and fix all their problems for them, but I'm sick of it. I'm sick of having to be the only thing holding this whole family together," Claggor said, clenching his hands into fists.
(She would make them lose everything.)
"So, Marcus?" His wife said, anger clear in her voice, "After all this time, your secret's finally out, what do you have to say for yourself?"
(Just like she lost everything because of them.)
"So," Jinx said with a smile, "Who would you sacrifice to get your happy ending?"

(Notes)
I'm going to be doing a different uploading schedule for this story than what I've done before. I want to make sure this turns out to be as good as I'm imagining it, so I'm going to do a monthly update to start out with.
After a while of seeing how fast I can write these chapters I might up how much I'm posting, but for now we're going to start slow.
Although I wouldn't worry too much, I'll probably start doing 2 chapters a month pretty soon here. Anyway, see you guys on the first!
