Work Text:
Sixer looked at the clock.
3AM.
She knows better than to stay up this late, though she can’t get her mind off of a specific person. The person who’s motivated her and reassured her she was more than just a demon, hence her name Guest 666.
That someone is Noob. They’re almost always with it. The pair was unstoppable. If you found Sixer and assumed it was alone? Wrong. If you found Noob and thought they were alone? Wrong.
Sixer has had them on her mind on repeat the last few days she’s been trying to sleep. Currently, she and Noob are sleeping together. They had done it numerous times, as for the cause that they share an apartment after agreeing it would be less bux spent for the both of them. Noob had fallen asleep watching a TV show about a girl with unrequited love. Ironic, isn’t it? Sixer stared at the still playing show, the only noise in the room. She quietly made her way out of bed, gently untangling Noob’s arms that were around her waist. It pulled the blanket over Noob carefully, not wanting to wake them. It walked to the kitchen, its footsteps silent and slow.
“...” Why did she have to have these stupid feelings? She always and has stood by the thought that love is a LIE. That it is pointless. Though if it’s true… Why does she feel romantic feelings for Noob? She sighed and poured herself a glass of water. Sixer took a sip, she felt the water burning her throat. That was unusual for a glass of water, it thought the water was supposed to soothe its throat. It kicked its foot in frustration against the kitchen counter.
Meanwhile in the bedroom, Noob awoke to the sound of clattering kitchen utensils and kicking noises. They made a sleepy sound of curiosity and sat up, slightly stretching. They noticed Sixer was gone.
“...Hm?” They stood up out of bed and made their way to the kitchen. They peeked around the hallway and saw Sixer curled into a ball on the floor by the counters. “Hey, hey, Six?” They asked. Noob rushed over to her side and held her hand. “What’s wrong, tell me.”
“!!” Sixer’s breathing slowed at the contact. She swallowed and took her hands up to sign but then quickly redacted them. She shook her head. Noob set their left hand on Sixer’s shoulder, their right still tangled with hers. She let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “...?”
“You want something to eat?” Noob asked, sensing Sixer’s peering. She nodded and stood up, grabbing a box of cereal from the cabinet. Noob giggled slightly. “Seriously? Cereal? At 3:30 AM?” They asked. They knew she had an odd preference for food timing and just watched as Sixer huffed dramatically. “Relax, Six. I’m joking.” They found it amusing they had to clarify they were just playing jokes.
‘ That’s not funny. ‘ Sixer signs. Noob fakes distraught, clutching their chest in dramatic heartbreak while Sixer just stares, unamused. She knew they were joking but couldn’t help but find it a little funny. And adorable. ‘ Whatever keeps you up at night, Noobie. ‘ Noob giggled again. The two then went back to the bedroom and got under the weighted blanket. Sixer cuddled up to Noob, nuzzling her face in the crook of their neck. Noob threw a leg around Sixers waist.
“Oddly clingy, are we now?” Noob joked. Despite that, they adjusted to a less painful position for Sixer, who was now half asleep, barely drooling on Noob’s warm yellow skin. They shivered. “N-Now you quit that…”
‘ Just messing with you! No need to be all dense ‘
“Messing with me… right. Get some rest, Sixer.” Noob watched as Sixer slowly succumbed to sleep. “…What do you do to me…”

It was now morning. Sunlight filtered through the house’s master bedroom window, shining directly on Noob’s eyes. They groaned, rubbing their eyes. They looked down and saw Sixer still asleep, exactly how she was last night. It seems that it never moved from its spot.
“…” At the sight of Sixer, Noob's heart fluttered. They untangled themself from the embrace of their best friend. They slowly got up, swinging their legs over the bed edge quietly. They set their feet down and began to pad to the bathroom. Why were they thinking about her so much lately? It’s not like it’ll ever love them back! It even said itself one time. Love. Is. Pointless. But they didn’t want it to be! Noob let out a shaky breath, looking at themself in the mirror. Telamon. They looked awful. Like they hadn’t slept in forever. They sighed, bending their front body over the sink, their face hovering above it as they held their cheeks with their hands. Why couldn’t they just accept the fact of their knowledge that Sixer would never like them back?! Noob backed up and slumped against the wall, conflicted. They curled up in a ball, perfectly replicating what Sixer looked like last night.
The memory made their heart ache even more. How they were just an assumed friend, a helper, a robot, or something stupid. A single tear escaped, followed by another, and another, with a repeating sequence until their tears flew freely. Not exactly loud, but not exactly quiet. Noob continues to have a mental breakdown until a note gets slid under the door. It says: “are u ok? :(“ in Sixer’s handwriting. Noob cleared their throat and wiped their eyes.
“Perfectly fine…” They reassured it. The silence that followed was almost descending. Another note got slid under the door after about a minute. It read: “I know when you’re okay or not, Noob. We’ve known each other for years and years. You’re not tricking me in any way.”
Huh. There really was no getting out of this one. Noob sniffled, then unlocked the door, a soft click sound filling the silent room. Sixer walked in and dropped down then sat next to Noob. She placed a hand on theirs, and intertwined their fingers gently. Noob whimpered.
“Y-You wanna know what’s wrong.. right?” They ask Sixer. It nods, still holding Noob's hand. Its cap was slightly lopsided, as if curious as well.
“…”
“I have a crush on you-!”
“!!”
Noob clamped a hand over their mouth, breathing rapidly. They looked like they wanted to disappear.
“I- I said too much- I’m sorry-!” They began walking off until Sixer pulled on their hoodie, its grip tight, pulling them back. “!! Six…?”
‘ I feel the same way too, there’s no need to hide your feelings. ‘ Noob feels like they just became the happiest person alive.
“I love you Sixer…”
‘ And I love you too, you big baby. ‘ Sixer walked to the couch and sat down, then patted the spot next to it. ‘ Now come here. ‘
“Don’t gotta ask me twice.”
Noob immediately laid on Sixer, pressing their back against her chest and pressing a soft kiss to her chin. She exhaled, pulling them unimaginably closer.
“So… about that cereal?”
