TeeTee doesn't know if he will ever get used to the world of high society his boyfriend frequents.

Work Text:

And I spin for you (like your favourite records used to)

“Are you sure?” Tee asked in his low voice. The voice that let his partner know that he was serious, that he was genuinely wondering if this was a good idea. It hadn’t even been that long, and he already feels completely out of place.

Not at Por’s side – that was exactly where he belonged. Where he wanted to be.

But here.
At a high-class business event where Thailand’s upper class was present. The kind of people Tee – through his profession – kind of belonged to. Though he was not the kind of person that was invited to business events like this. Brand events? Yes.
Luxury fashion shows? Yes.

However, he was now also part of this. By association, as Por’s mother liked to say. Because he was connected now to the Jirachotikul family, and therefore… connected to this whole thing too.

He remembered the conversation clearly, that had caused this situation to happen.

It all started with Por’s mother.

“We would love for you to come along darling. I’ll put you as Suppakarn’s plus one, mh?”
At that, both him and Por had been blushing, babbling messes. They had both not been able to look at each other for a moment, hands hiding their faces as his partner’s mother just laughed at their – what she liked to call cute – antics and took that as a yes.

Pin had watched the whole scene unfold from across the room and started snickering.
“Let my brother help you choose something to wear, yeah?”

And said evening had come faster than they both had anticipated. Tee’s suit was perfection. Almost as if tailored specifically for him (And yes, some adjustments had been made by the shop owner’s team).
And Por? What could he say… Por looked utterly otherworldly in his dark blue suit, the dress shirt unbuttoned at the top so some of his mother’s signature pieces were visible.

Tee was glad they were not obligated to wear neckties to this event. He never liked the restrictive feeling they gave him. Tee wasn’t wearing any necklaces or rings, like Por, but his ears were decorated in a pair of gold earrings that Por’s mother had handpicked for him from her collection. The left one was a dangling thing, swinging whenever he moved, while the other was a match, but a stud instead.

Fortunately for Tee, Por was also keeping to the back of the room, where the bar was located. Sometimes he did greet someone, showing his most polite and professional smile to them, as he exchanged a few words, and introduced Tee to them.

Needless to say that whenever Por mentioned that Tee was his partner, accompanied with that look that made it clear that he wasn’t referring only to acting partners… his little heart skipped a beat. Or two.

Luckily there was alcohol.

Tee moved his foot and brought it against Por’s, happy for some type of contact. When Por simply pressed the length of his whole leg against his own, he couldn’t help but grin behind his cocktail glass.
It was a feeble attempt at hiding his contentment.

Por nudged him gently and then took the straw of his own cocktail into his mouth.
“Cute~” Tee whispered to him, as he watched him drink. Tee would never let a chance like that slip away. Still, he took a sip of his own exotic and probably expensive drink now again.

Was that gold glitter in there?

“Weird, right?”
Tee couldn’t help but giggle at that question. “Well…”

Por let out an amused snort, “You can say it. I know. It’s a whole other world…”

“Yeah,” Tee hummed and let his eyes wander over the people in the large eventhall again, “You can say that again.”

Por leaned a little closer to him, their shoulders touching now as he continued to take sips of his drink. His eyes were facing ahead too, as if they were watching, maybe even calculating a move. They were not – they were in their own little world, their little bubble, but no one needed to know that.

“I used to like it,” Por began, “but not anymore now. All of this… the flaunting, the looks, the dances with words… it’s not part of my world anymore.”

Tee let go of the straw in his mouth, grinning from ear to ear. “Exceeept for your Omakase~” he said, eyes twinkling with mirth.
“Hey!” Por pouted at him, “You like it too!”

Tee just shrugged.
“I like it because you like it. I mean!”, he stopped himself and let out a sigh, “I mean I do like it. It’s good. But I know how much you enjoy it, so it makes me happy to share this with you?”

“Tee…” Por looked at him with wide eyes, his cheeks slightly pink. Then he ruffled the back of his hair and Tee knew that the other was being shy.
Cute.
Kissing him right now was probably not an option, right? Not very business-y. Not very… good manners and all that stuff.

Fortunately for him, Por’s mother approached them both at that moment, effectively breaking the spell between them.

“Come on you two,” she said and gently touched Por’s shoulder first, before letting her hand run over Tee’s as well, “at least dance for a little while? The musicians are really good today.”

“Mum…” Por all but whined, exasperation clear in his voice. Por’s mother just smiled at him, and simply grabbed Tee’s arm.

“Fine then. Watch me, dear. I am going to steal your boyfriend away now and charm him with my superior dancefloor moves!”

“Uhm—” Tee was at a loss for words, and didn’t really know what to say. Was he supposed to say no? To Por’s mother? That seemed awfully rude and everything seeing as she was, indeed, the mother of his lover. The woman who had invited him. Who treated him as one of her own.

Yet, much to Tee’s delight, the decision was taken from him.
“No,” Por said in his deeper voice, eyes slightly narrowed as he brought up his own hand to grab Tee by the elbow and drag him away.

Okay? What was going on now? He turned his head to look over his shoulder and back at his boyfriend’s mother, who was smiling mischievously at him. She even sent him a wink!

Alright – that had been deliberate. Planned by her, to make her son get to the dancefloor with Tee in tow.

(She was amazing like this, yeah.)

“You know I can’t dance, right?” Tee let out when he turned back to look at Por. The older one had brought them into the middle of the designated space, couples around them dancing already to the song of the small orchestra.

Por snorted again, and looked at him with an impish glint in his eyes, “That,” he started, “was the worst lie you have ever attempted, Nong Tee~”

Tee gaped at him, feeling the heat creep into his cheeks at the nickname that Por kept for special occasions. When he wanted to tease him in a cute way. Like now.
Por’s hand settled on his waist, the other finding his own.

“You know what I meant,” he whined quietly, his eyes meeting Por’s as he started to pout, “I can’t do this kind of dance.”

Por just shrugged and adjusted their stance, explaining patiently, where Tee should place his own free hand. Then he looked over Tee’s shoulder and sent someone a glare. Tee surmised that this was directed either at the other’s mother, or sister. Maybe even both, seeing as they often banded together to tease them.

Then Por’s attention returned to him, his eyes immediately softening when their gazes met.
“It’s fine. I’ll lead you, okay? Just be gentle when you step on my toes.”
“Oi—!”

And then they were already moving, Por pulling him along into the dance, successfully cutting all of Tee’s protests short.
It didn’t take long until Tee fell into step, into rhythm and understood what he was supposed to be doing. He was a physical person, and these things came easy to him. It did probably help that they went through dance practices every other day and had to memorise dance steps like other’s memorised vocabulary in a foreign language.

The music was carrying them along, Por leading, Tee following and learning quickly. They were slow dancing, something Tee had never thought he would be doing.

Something he had never thought he would be enjoying, even.

But here they were – leading each other in this dance, across the dancefloor, bodies close and hearts beating as one. Surrounded by blatant luxuries and delicacies, Tee’s eyes only knew one true gem.

Perhaps, even though these events were not part of their world, he wouldn’t mind visiting, if he got to share a dance with the smiling angel in his arm.

Le fin.

And when we danced, we danced, with windows down; And we danced, we danced
