Gone are the comforts of everything he knows: rockets, computers, games, books.
Gone are the basic necessities, the kind that become forgotten in their mundanity, like clothes and food.
Gone, too, are all the people he loves. His friends. His father.
The world is a blank slate, a blossoming spring forest bursting at his fingertips. Awake and moving, he can get straight to work on figuring out the source of the petrification.
It’s exhilarating!
