Chapter Text
Jennifer Parker pushed herself up awake, she was feeling dry in the mouth, she quickly felt her tongue around her mouth.
Dry.
She took a quick look at her clock, as it displayed 12:46 AM.
Despite feeling quite tired yet she also was incredibly thirsty. She got up from her bed and forced herself out of her bedroom and started walking to the kitchen to grab herself a nice drink. While pouring herself a drink she heard some rolling sounds. Curious, she began to look out the window and came to see Marty on his skateboard.
She quickly walked and opened her front door. "Marty?" she called out softly, keeping her voice low so as not to wake her family. "What on earth are you doing out at this hour?"
Marty quickly hearing her voice would stop skating and stopping himself as he kicked up his board. turning to her. “Oh just…getting groceries.” he admitted nervously.
Jennifer stared at him unimpressed. “Really? Groceries at 1am huh?” She smirked "Where are you REALLY going?"
"Twin Pines Mall," Marty blurted out, as Jennifer smiled at the answer. Marty sighed. “Ok look, Doc called me about 20 minutes ago asking me to bring a recording camera to the mall. Said he had an experiment he wanted me to record.” Jennifer’s eyes lit up with curiosity. She heard of Dr. Brown’s experiments from Marty, granted she met the man a few times but never saw his experiments but she had heard a lot about his cool experiments from Marty.
“Interesting? Sooooooo. You wouldn’t mind if I were to join you hmm? Seems pretty big and I would love to see him again.”
Marty squirmed a bit. “Yaa…I don’t know Jen, he usually doesn’t like many people seeing his experiments. Hell half the town already calls him a nut job!”
Jennifer gave a coy smile at Marty as he sighed.
“You're not taking no for an answer are you?” She nodded. Marty sighed. “Change quickly.”
“No problem.” Jennifer ran back into the house as Marty waited outside for her humming a tune out. She returned out of the house a few minutes later, now in a white blouse, jeans, a black denim jacket, and sneakers. “Let me grab my bike and you lead the way.”
Jennifer quickly ran to the garage and opened the side door as she grabbed her bike from the inside. She quickly got on and began riding as Marty led the way on his skateboard.
Eventually as the ride neared its end as the two arrived on the outskirts of Twin Pines Mall. There they saw a large white truck in the middle of the lot as it read.
E. BROWN ENTERPRISES - 24 HOUR SCIENTIFIC SERVICE.
Marty kicked up his board as Jennifer got off her bike and they walked themselves down., to the truck in the middle of the parking lot.
“Gotta admit Marty, so far, looking pretty interesting I mean that truck will have to prove something.
Marty smiled, “well Doc is usually known for going big or going home.” Marty quickly saw a dog sitting in the lot near the truck by itself and walked over."
“Hey Einstein, how have you been boy?” Marty kneeled down to pet the dog as the dog leaned into it. Marty turned to Jennifer. “Oh right! Jennifer, this is Einstein, Doc’s dog.”
Jennifer leaned her bike against the side of the truck as she walked over.
“Hello nice to meet you Einstein.” She quickly petted the dog who seemed to lean into her touch.
Suddenly the three were distracted as a large sound was heard coming from the truck. As steam began to fall out as the back opened up. Marty and Jennifer began to step back as Einstein ran off in a direction.
The ramp finished going down as a car rolled out of the truck.
‘Is… Is that a DeLorean?’ Jennifer thought as she stared as the car finished rolling out.
Unlike any DeLorean she’s seen, this one is completely decked out in custom parts and looks, hell it could even be its own brand at this point.
It was then one of the gull wing doors opened up and revealed an elderly man. He was wearing a white suit with a stop watch around his neck. He was holding a clipboard and had a pen in his mouth.
“Doc?” Marty asked as the man turned around.
“Marty!” Dr. Brown. said, as he grew into a smile as he walked to Marty. “You made it! Welcome to my latest experiment, glad you can be here”
“Glad to be here Doc.” Marty replied before turning to Jennifer “Hope you don’t mind I brought my girlfriend.”
Doc got a look at her as his face fell. “Marty! Do you remember how I feel about having civilians at my experiments!?”
“Look Doc I’m sorry ok, she saw me skating outside earlier, I accidentally blurted I was heading here and she tagged along. Besides, it's not like you don’t know her.” Marty responded.
Jennifer finally walked up and put her hand in front offering it to Doc. “Hello Dr. Brown. Pleased to see you again.”
Dr. Brown looked at her for a moment before accepting the handshake. “Look Marty, I'll let this slide for now as today is a big day for me. But please…let me know ahead of time if you want to bring your girlfriend.”
“Sorry Doc, this was more spur of the moment, but I’ll try.”
Doc looked Jennifer deep in the eyes. “You trust what you see here, you promise not to tell anyone?”
Jennifer put her hand up “Trust me I promise, I'll say nothing.” Doc sighed at the information.
“Very well. Roll tape Marty! Jennifer, stand back a bit please don’t want you in the recording.” She quickly did as she was told as Marty started the recording.
Dr. Brown cleared his throat, smoothed down his radiation suit, and faced the lens. "Good evening, I'm Doctor Emmett Brown. I'm standing in the parking lot of Twin Pines Mall. It's Saturday morning, October 26, 1985, 1:18 am, and this is temporal experiment number one.”
Dr. Brown looked at Einstein who was near the car, “C'mon, Einey, hey hey boy, get in there, that a boy, in you go” He began to help get Einstein in. “get down, that's it."
Dr. Brown helped buckle Einstein in as he slid the seatbelt shut in the DeLorean, he quickly put a watch over Einstein.
"Please note that Einstein's clock is in complete synchronization with my control watch," Doc instructed, holding up a digital watch right next to the digital clock around Einstein's neck.
“Right Check Doc.”
Jennifer couldn’t help but watch with curiosity, what was Dr. Brown planning to do?
“Alright, have a good trip Einstein, watch your head.” Dr. Brown carefully closed the gullwing door of the car.
He quickly grabbed something from his suit, which ended up being a remote controller.
Marty quickly looked at it “You got that thing hooked up to th-.” A loud rumble formed as the car began to move “car?”.
Dr. Brown smiled as he began to use the remote stick to drive the car around the lot, Jennifer looked impressed ‘A life sized remote controlled car? That's what he made? That is impressive!’
The car kept going until Dr. Brown finished it as it faced him and Marty all the way down at the far end of the lot as Doc grinned with confidence.
“If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles an hour, you’re going to see some serious shit.” Jennifer overheard as she saw Doc begin to fiddle with the controls. She looked over as the car began to rev in place.
She watched as the car continued to rev louder and louder, until it was released and began to go to them.
She suddenly got worried as it looked like the car was about to ram them.
Marty seemed to catch on and tried to move as Dr. Brown grabbed him as he grinned. “Watch this! Watch this!”
Jennifer couldn’t take it, she ran fast, Dr. Brown was about to kill Marty. Just before she could push Marty out of the way.
*BLAM*
The DeLorean vanished as a trail of fire tracks were left behind going through Marty and Doc as Jennifer stopped near them confused.
Dr. Brown and Marty both had shocked looks on their faces as hot wind went past them, Doc looked down at the remote before smiling like a mad man.
“Ha! What did I tell you!” He screamed with joy as he raised his hands. “88 miles an hour!”
Marty and Jennifer looked stunned at the fire tracks, they quickly saw the license plate spin on the asphalt as it fell to the ground.
“Dr. Brown! What the hell! You almost got yourselves killed!” Jennifer yelled at him! Doc looked at her with a smile.
“I knew this would happen, I wouldn’t just risk Marty like that without being absolutely sure, he was safe." Doc got out with a grin as Marty went to grab the license plate.
“Ah Jesus Christ ! Jesus Christ Doc! You disintegrated Einstein!” Marty got out as he recoiled when he dropped the license plate.
“You killed your dog!?” Jennifer looked at Doc horrified as he wrote something down on a piece of paper.
“I didn't disintegrate or kill anything! The molecular structure of both Einstein and the car are completely intact!"
“So where the hell are they!?” Marty yelled out.
“The appropriate question is when the hell are they!” Dr. Brown walked forward “I sent them into the future!” He pointed out. “One minute into the future to be precise. You see. Einstein has become the world’s first time traveler! And at precisely 1:21 A.M. and zero seconds, we shall catch up with him and the time machine!”
At this point it caught up to both Marty and Jennifer as they turned to Dr. Brown, Marty spoke first “You're telling me, you built a time machine…”
“Out of a DeLorean?” Jennifer finished.
Doc turned to them with a grin “The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style? Besides, the stainless steel construction made the flux dispersal-.”
Dr. Brown’s watch beeped multiple times and he got worried. “Look out!”
He quickly moved Marty and Jennifer to the side as the DeLorean reentered the parking lot now covered in ice skidding across the lot.
The three stared at the DeLorean in shock, they slowly moved towards it. When suddenly a burst of steam shot out from the back making the three recoil.
Doc took the initiative and he walked to the DeLorean cautiously, he got to the car he tried to open it but the moment he touched it he recoiled.
“What is it hot?” Marty asked.
“It's cold damn cold” He used his foot and kicked the door open revealing Einstein in the DeLorean safe and sound.
“Ha, ha, ha, Einstein, you little devil.” Dr. Brown began petting Einstein affectionately as he grabbed the watch on Einstein and his. “Einstein's clock is exactly one minute behind mine, it's still ticking.” Dr. Brown quickly let Einstein out as Einstein ran to the truck.
“He’s fine” Marty got out.
“I don’t think I could have lived with myself if I watched a dog get killed in front of me.” Jennifer said.
“Like I said he’s fine, for us the trip was one minute, for him it was instantaneous, that's why his clock was one minute behind. He skipped over that minute to reach this moment here. I'll show you.”
“Alright…” Marty and Jennifer said at the same time.
He took Marty and Jennifer to the DeLorean. Dr. Brown sat in the car as he looked at the inside of the car. Marty was next to him as Jennifer was next to Marty. Dr. Brown looked at Marty.
“First you turn the time circuits on.” He flipped a switch at the middle.
‘SRRRR DING’ The sound the car made as a bunch of stuff lit up inside the car.
“This one tells you where you're going.” He pointed to the date lit up in red. “This one tells you where you are.” He pointed to the date in green. “This one tells you where you were.” He pointed to the yellow.
“You input your destination time on this keypad. Say, you want to see the signing of the Declaration of Independence.” He imputed the date on the keypad
‘July 4th, 1776’ lit up on the red spot.
“Or about when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses?” Jennifer asked.
“Precisely!” Dr. Brown added as he inputted the time there too.
‘October 31st, 1517’ Lit up on the red spot.
“Here is a red lighted date in the history of science. November 5th, 1955!” Doc typed as it lit up.
Doc paused to himself “November 5th 1955…I can’t believe.” Doc started laughing.
“Doc what's up? What happened that day?”
“You see, Marty, Jennifer that day right there.” He pointed at the keypad. “Is the day I invented time travel. You see that day I was standing on the edge of my toilet hanging a clock, the porcelain was wet, I slipped, hit my head on the edge of the sink. And when I came to, I had a revelation, a picture, a picture in my head, a picture of this!”
Doc points to the Y shaped object in the back of the car.
“This! Marty and Jennifer! Is the Flux Capacitor.”
“Flux Capacitor…Huh Doc.”
“Flux Capitor? Flux Gaspasitor? Flux Captor?” Jennifer tried to pronounce it properly but failing horribly.
“Flux Ca-pac-i-tor Jennifer, trust me it's taken thirty years and my entire family fortune! ” Dr. Brown said as something hit him “My god…It's really been that long huh.” Dr. Brown got out of the car and looked around at the mall. “Things have certainly changed around here. I remember when this was all farmland as far as the eye could see. Old Man Peabody owned all of this. He had this crazy idea about breeding Pine Trees.” Dr. Brown said as he was deep in thought as he walked to the truck.
“You know Dr. Brown. I was surprised to see you invent time travel honestly.” Jennifer said “I am incredibly impressed, you even got it to run on gasoline! This is truly a day for science!” She smiled with amazement.
Doc turned around, “While I appreciate the compliment, Jennifer, unfortunately it isn’t run on gasoline.”
“Then what is it Doc?” Marty asked.
“Plutonium!” Dr. Brown said as he returned walking to the Truck.
Marty and Jennifer’s jaws dropped to the ground and Marty aimed the camera down. “Plutonium!” Both said in shock “You have a nuclear bomb here!!?” Marty asked, horrified.
Dr. Brown turned back “Hey! Keep rolling ok!” Marty quickly adjusted, “No it's electric, trust me, but I need the 1.21 Gigawatts of electricity to power the ability to do time travel.” Then turned back around.
“Plutonium! Dr. Brown. How the heck would you have gotten that, did you steal that from someone?! Rip them off?!” Jennifer asked, horrified and scared.
Doc turned back with a strained face as he looked at them. “Second one and from a group of Libyan Nationalists. They wanted me to build them a bomb, so I took their plutonium and in turn gave them a shoddy bomb casing full of used pinball machine parts.” Smiling at the end.
“Jesus Doc. That's heavy…” Marty commented.
“Look Marty, it should be fine. Now come on, let's get you a radiation suit on.” He turned to Jennifer “Jennifer I didn’t account for you being here today so I need you to stand by the Twin Pines sign just to be safe. I'll call you when it's ready.”
“Don’t need to tell me I’m out!” Jennifer started fast walking to the sign.
“Hey Doc, can I store some things in your car?”
“Sure Marty, just remember to grab them later.” Marty walked to the car, he threw his red puffer jacket in, along with his Walkman, some tapes. Once done he went to Doc to get his suit.
Doc carefully grabbed the plutonium now fully in his suit. Marty was fully in his suit too. Marty was recording the whole thing as Doc carefully moved it. He grabbed the lid from the DeLorean and took it off. He put the Plutonium on top and carefully moved it not to cause any sudden reactions.
*SHLURP*
The plutonium fell into the slot as Dr. Brown and Marty flinched a bit in panic a bit. Doc quickly put the lid on fast and sealed it.
“Lead lined. We should be fine. Keep those tapes Marty.” He turned to the Twin Pines sign. “Jennifer! It's safe now!” Dr. Brown yelled out.
Doc began to walk back to the yellow casing, opening it with his foot as he carefully put in the tube of water that once had plutonium in it.
Jennifer quickly came running to them “You two ok?”
“Jen, we're good.” Marty said to her as she sighed in relief to him.
“Yes, fine, positive.” Dr. Brown said. He quickly walked over to the car before realizing something “Whoop. I almost forgot my luggage. Who knows if they've got cotton underwear in the future. I'm allergic to all synthetics.”
Marty turned to him “The future, you're heading to the future?”
“How far?” Jennifer added.
“That's right, twenty-five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five World Series!” He added with a grin.
“Check us out when you get there Doc.” Marty added with a smile.
“I will.” He turned to Jennifer. “Jennifer, want to record this part?”
Jennifer smiled “Absolutely Dr. Brown. I want to be part of history.” Marty handed her the camera as she focused on Doc.
“Roll it.” Jennifer turned it on as Doc opened the gullwing door.
“I, Doctor Emmett Brown, am about to embark on an historic journey.” Doc pauses for a moment before he just realized something and he let out a laugh. “What am I thinking? I almost forgot to bring some extra plutonium. How did I ever expect to get back? One pallet, one trip. I must be out of my mind.”
Before he could do anything the three heard a bark as they turned to face Einstein who was barking from the truck.
“What is it Einey?” Dr. Brown said with a smile before looking into the lot and his face suddenly got into a grim worrying face as he walked a bit to get a better view.
The entryway to Twin Pines lit up as a minivan entered with its lights on.
“They found me…I don’t know how, but they found me. Marty! Jennifer! Run for it!
“Doc what's happening, who are they!” Marty asked worriedly.
“Who do you think!? The Libyans!”
Marty and Jennifer turned to face the minivan.
“Holy Shit!” The two screamed out.
The minivan suddenly got into better view and a man poked out from the sun roof of the minivan yelling at something in Arabic. He quickly pulled out a gun.
*RAT-RAT-RAT-RAT-RAT*
As the Libyans opened fire, quickly Dr. Brown and Marty ran to the Truck for cover while Jennifer ducked behind the DeLorean.
“I’ll draw their fire. So you and Jennifer can get out.” Doc said to Marty as he pulled out a revolver.
Dr. Brown tried to fire only to have nothing come out as he looked and saw, no ammo.
“Dammit!” Doc and Marty ducked again as more fire ensued and tried to run off into a direction.
Only to be face first in front of the minivan as the gunner aimed at them.
Doc stood in front of Marty to protect him.
“L-look…” Dr. Brown stammered out nervously. “Do what you will to me but le-.”
*RAT-RAT-RAT-RAT-RAT*
He didn’t even finish as gunfire tore into Marty and Dr. Brown sent them flying back.
Jennifer stared as her eyes went wide with horror at watching Marty and Dr. Brown get shot.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” She screamed out as tears began to fall down her face.
The Libyans noticed her and began to open fire. Jennifer quickly ran in one direction to try and escape. She got past the truck, only for the minivan to stop in front of her.
She stared at them dead in the eye.
‘This is it…” She thought as she closed her eyes waiting for the inevitable.
Only for the gun to jam. Jennifer opened her eyes and saw the gunner trying to unjam the gun.
She didn’t squander the opportunity, she ran back to the DeLorean and got into the driver seat. She grabbed the handle ready to close, only to get one last look at the bodies of Marty and Doc bleeding on the ground.
‘She has to live. For Marty and Dr. Brown’
Tears still going down her face, she slammed the door, turned on the ignition and set the car into the next gear and drove off. The minivan followed her closely, keeping the fire on. The bullets hit the ground creating sparks.
“Oh god…Go faster! She yelled through her tear sobbed face as she switched gears, unknowingly activating the time circuits as the dates lit up.
Nov. 5th 1955 6:00 AM
Oct. 26th 1985 1:32 AM
She drove her way through the parking lot, trying to go through corners to lose them. She tried all twists and turns through the lot.
She was so focused on losing them she almost didn’t catch something in her rear view mirror.
‘Is that… An RPG!?!’ She screamed in her mind. One of the men pulled an RPG through the sunroof.
“Oh god!” Jennifer panicked out. “Let's see if a minivan can do 90.” She switched gears as she gained speed on them.
She stared back smiling, she was going to get away!
She turned back.
She was heading for the Fox photo hut!
She didn’t have any options left. Turn right and crash into the truck, left crash into the side. She had to brace. The car was getting faster.
85…86…87…
88.
The moment it hit 88 sparks began to fly out around the sides of the car everything lit up.
‘BLAM’
The DeLorean vanished.
