Chapter Text
This might not be her house but she’s already learned which floorboards creak. Miko wisely decided to keep her shoes off while still walking around inside and tiptoes through the house in her mismatched socks. Bulkhead is waiting for her about a block away from her host parent’s house. It’d taken her ages to convince him to take her out to the concert and she wasn’t about to risk getting caught and missing her chance.
She’s wearing a distressed t-shirt of the band (Slash monkeys!!!) she’s going to see and a mini-skirt layered over cargo pants with two studded (and technically unnecessary) belts. Her jewelry includes excessive amounts of necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Her backpack, filled with essentials like her phone, cash, a water bottle, and several snacks, is slung over her shoulder and her newly bought combat boots are in one hand.
She quietly opens her bedroom window, throwing her shoes down onto the grass before carefully climbing out herself and standing on the roof of the garage, which is cold underneath her feet. She very, very carefully moves down the roof. She slips and has to catch herself at one point, her heart is pounding but she’s been in scarier situations so she doesn’t even yelp. She’s very proud of herself for that.
She jumps from the edge and her feet hit the grass with a soft thump. She moves quickly now, grabbing her combat boots and shoving them on before leaving her host parent’s yard and then running the rest of the way down the block to Bulkhead. She tosses his passenger side door open and hops inside, buckling herself in and setting her bag in the back.
”Ok, go! Go! Go!” Miko orders hurriedly, as loud as ever, filled with anxious energy from the adrenaline rush. Bulkhead lets out a rumbling chuckle in response and pulls away from the curb at a normal speed, which is far too slow for the hyper teen. “Relax, Meeks. We can start speeding once we’re away from all these humans.” He compromises. “Just this once.” Miko groans dramatically but relents without a fight, slumping back in her seat. “Fineeeeeee.”
Bulkhead keeps his promise, much to Miko’s delight, and speeds up as soon as he gets out of the neighborhood. He rolls his windows down and Miko sticks her head out, her hair becoming messy in the wind. Miko’s glee filled laughter makes Bulkhead believe agreeing to this was the right choice. (He just hopes Ratchet doesn’t find out…)
