Work Text:
Dean was telling his mother, whom Amara brought back to life for him as a gift, all about his and Sammy’s life, and John, while Castiel was driving a stolen truck from a man who most definitely thought he was an alien to get back to the bunker, Mary and Dean were on their way there too.
Mary was in awe, looking down at the bunker. “You live here?” She asks.
“Yeah, when we’re not on the road.”
They talk as they walk down the stairs, Dean looking around for his Angel and Sammy.
Then they find the blood. Dean pulls out his gun, holding it at the ready.
“Sammy?” He calls. “Cas?”
Then he finds the angel sigil on the wall, and he sees red—pun not intended—because someone knew his angel was here and cast him out.
Mary just stares at him as he looks around. Then he hands her a gun that was hidden under the war room table, looking around the bunker for Sam since he knows Castiel isn’t here.
Dean makes a quick circle, then he heads back to the library where he told Mary to stay put, but he’s met with the sight of Mary pointing the gun he gave her at his husband.
Dean immediately runs to fetch the gun, exclaiming, “Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! It’s okay. It’s okay. He’s a friend, alright?” He tells Mary.
Castiel looks at Dean, offended and hurt but also relieved to see that his husband is alive.
Dean then turns to his Angel, smiling and whispering, opening his arms for an embrace. “Hey, baby.”
“Dean,” Cas breathes out in pure relief, practically throwing himself into Dean’s arms, his arms wrapped around the hunter’s neck, holding his husband tight.
Dean instantly smiles, hugging Cas back, making sure to cut it short so Mary doesn’t think too much about it and that they’re just friends.
He doesn’t really know how to tell her that he’s bi and dating an angel of the lord.
After Dean tells Mary what Cas is—an Angel—he introduces them to each other.
“Cas, this is Mary Winchester…”
“Your mother?” Cas says, immediately knowing what Dean was trying to tell him.
Then the three of them go on a mission to find Sam, Dean discovering that his parents have most definitely had sex in the backseat of Baby, where Dean has had sex many times, including a lot of times with Cas.
Dean looks over at Cas with wide eyes when he realizes what that look on Mary’s face means, Castiel cocking his head in bewilderment.
Dean quickly dodges that subject and tells everyone that it’s time to go.
They eventually find Jamie Ross, the chauffeur, and Castiel quickly headbutts the man so that he will give them the information that they want.
Cas hit Jamie so hard that he has blood in his own teeth, which makes Dean very flustered, having to hide his reactions from his mother!
Also having to make sure his dick stays down.
He loves his angel more than anything, but he gets so annoyed with how easily Castiel can make him horny as hell.
“Cas!” Dean shouts when Castiel starts getting rough with Jamie, making no move to stop him.
“That’s an angel?” Mary asks Dean, looking at him.
Dean just smiles, tilting his head, thinking, “That’s my angel.”
They eventually get what they need from Jamie and leave him be, going to this little outdoor cafe for a coffee break, with Castiel spotting a suspicious car driving by that is for some veterinary clinic, finding out the owner pulled a bullet out of Sammy.
Castiel goes into immediate guard-dog mode, Dean quickly stepping in to stop his angel. “Cas! Cas! Cas! Don’t hurt him. Not yet.”
When the guy doesn’t reveal everything he knows, Mary orders Cas to hurt him, Dean’s eyes going wide looking at his mother.
“Don’t talk to my angel like that,” he wants to tell her, but doesn’t, and watches Cas threaten to beat up the bastard, who immediately folds and gives them the phone number of the blonde bitch who took Sammy.
Dean calls her, threatening her with the things he’s going to do to her, vigorously murdering her for what she did to his brother.
Of course, the bitch that she is, hangs up on him; he then breaks the veterinarian’s cell phone after she hangs up on him, fueled by rage.
As they’re heading back to the bunker to put a trace on the bitch’s phone number, someone rams them, causing Baby to skid across the road and Mary to pass out, but she’s going to be just fine, Cas immediately observes.
Then some British bitch climbs out of the car that hit them, messing up Baby, leaning against it, with a smug smile on her face.
It quickly turns into a fight, because the prick has some magical brass knuckles of some kind.
Castiel joins the fight, both of them getting a few hits on her, but she’s doing more damage to them than they are to her.
She’s kicking their ass, but they’re a stubborn pair, and they’re not backing down.
Then, when the bitch points Dean’s gun at them while they’re on the ground, Mary picks up Cas’s angel blade and stabs her with it, killing her.
Mary is in shock after killing the woman, sitting in the driver’s seat of Baby, staring at her hands in disbelief.
Cas and Dean hide the evidence of the fight and the lady’s car while Mary takes a few seconds for herself.
Dean then pulls Cas in for a kiss, because they haven’t been able to do that since before Dean thought he was going to die and never see Cas or Sam again.
The angel quickly pushes him against the car the British lady drove, making Dean moan into his mouth, deepening the kiss.
Cas heals Dean while they make out for a bit, the two smiling at each other when they pull away, catching their breath, pressing their foreheads together.
“I love you, Angel.”
“I love you too, Dean.”
Dean makes sure to fix his clothes and hair so it doesn’t look like he was just making out with his husband before going to talk to Mary.
The three of them then hop back into Baby, ready to get Sam back from these crazy British people.

Dean confesses to Castiel, as they talk on the phone while still trying to find Sam, that it feels weird to have Mary here and that she isn’t really talking about anything.
“Don’t make things needlessly complicated, as you humans tend to do,” Castiel so helpfully provides.
“Yeah, thanks, Angel,” Dean says back sarcastically before Castiel ends the call, and then Mary wanders in wearing his dead man's robe.
Dean tries not to laugh when Mary calls John a good father, then his angel calls him with news of a possible location where Sam could be, about some old barn that has powerful warding on it.
When they end the call, Dean does his best not to say, “Thanks, huggy-bear,” or “Thanks, honey,” since Mary is sitting right across from him at the war room table.
He’s still not ready for that conversation.
All he wants to focus on right now is getting his Sammy back.
Dean learns that Mary was a pretty damn good hunter back in her day while Dean is driving them to Cas to get Sam.
He also explains to her how, after she died, John changed so much, and that the hunter life took over, roping him and Sammy into it, and that after Sam got out, John roped Sam right back in; the only things the two brothers had were the Impala and each other.
But now they have Castiel, so they’re not as alone as they once were.
They had Bobby too, God rest his soul.
When Dean and Mary arrive at the house Cas found, Mary tries to go inside with Dean, but Cas immediately knows what Dean wants and steps in, telling Mary that he cannot go inside because of the warding and can use the company, so she stays behind with him.
“Thanks, Angel,” Dean says softly, looking at Cas adoringly, trying his best not to kiss him. He half-smiles as he walks away, leaving his angel and mother alone.
Dean does not want to get his dick chopped off or his eyelids, but then Mary comes in to save the day, demanding that the crazy British bitch get away from her boys, shocking Sam because he didn’t know Mary was alive…brought back to life.
The bitch finally gets knocked down so Dean can untie Sam, then another British man named Mick shows up, with Castiel behind him.
The brothers then learn that Mick was the one who powered down the wardings so Castiel could enter; then he has the gall to flirt with Castiel using a stupid line: “I reckon you could finish me off without breaking a sweat. Am I right?”
Dean frowns as Castiel replies, “I don’t sweat under any circumstances.”
Which, yeah, Dean knew that.
Mick then quickly gives Castiel a business card with his number on it, and Dean sees red, pointing an angry finger at the British man.
“Hey, don’t flirt with my angel, you understand me? Unless you want to die.”
Mick holds up his hands in mock surrender. “Sorry, mate, didn’t mean to press any buttons.” Then Mick goes on to talk about more British men of letters bullshit, leaving with the crazy bitch lady, Cas quickly rushing over to heal Sam, then Dean.
Shortly after, the three Winchesters head back to the bunker to catch up and have some food, most importantly, pie.
Cas lets them have their private moments before coming back to the bunker, pausing in the hallway when he noticed Dean fidgeting nervously as Mary stared at him, confused.
“I don’t understand- what does bisexual mean, Dean?” Mary was confused, telling him that she had never heard that word before.
Dean let out a light sigh.
For a split second, he thought she would slap him like John had when he came out to him after his first solo hunt alone.
“It means I like boys and girls, Mom,” he explained.
Mary nodded, now understanding what he was actually trying to tell her. “And Castiel?”
Dean gulped nervously, revealing the silver chain he keeps around his neck that holds his wedding ring so he cannot lose it on hunts. “He is my husband.”
Mary just looks at Dean weirdly. “My son married a male angel. What the fuck?” is all she thinks as Castiel walks into the room, grabbing hold of Dean's hand and kissing his knuckles softly, making Dean blush as it always does.
“I assure you, Mary, that I love your son very much, wholly and completely. I could never hurt him; it would kill me,” Castiel tells his mother-in-law. “He is very important to me.”
Dean intertwines his fingers with Cas’s, looking up at his husband with pure love shining in his emerald eyes.
Castiel leans down and kisses Dean’s forehead, the hunter closing his eyes with a soft hum as Cas does so, a smile forming on Mary’s face because she can truly see how in love they are and how happy they are together.
“I may not understand, but I am very happy for you both.”
Dean smiles at her. “Thanks, Mom. That’s all I need.”
She reaches over and places her hand on his free one, patting it before standing up and walking away to the room she has deemed as her own, leaving the happy couple alone and heading to their own room for some extracurricular activities because Dean is alive, Sam is safe, and everything is okay…well except for the fact that Lucifer is still out there, but they’ll find him, it can wait a few hours.
