“Baby, please!” Dick whined as he rushed after you and desperately tried to grab your hand, which you yanked away just in time.
You didn’t even turn around or stopped because you didn’t want to give your pathetic boyfriend even the slightest chance to make it up to you.
“Come on, princess. I can explain!” Dick tried again, stepping beside you and matching your angry pace. In his eyes, you were absolutely hot like this. Angry, heels clicking on the pavement and hair whirling around in the wind as you tried to get away from him.
Dick knew those heels were a pain in the ass by the way you slightly started to limp but didn’t stop walking. He smirked and before you knew it, his arms were around you and you were up in the air.
“Let me down!” You screamed, immediately attacking Dick with your fists, only making him chuckle in amusement.
“No,” Dick teased while manhandling you again. You were now laying over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, drumming against his back like crazy. “You’re too adorable to let go off.”
For a moment, you laughed and easily fell into Dick’s teasing charms, forgetting why you were mad to begin with. He always had that kind of effect on you, making you forget about the bad stuff.
In an alley, Dick put you back down onto the ground and gently pushed you up against the bricked wall. You looked up at him the moment both his hands landed on each side of your head. You were caged in.
“You know, what you saw isn’t what you think it is, right?” Dick moved his hand to brush the hair out of your face with gentle fingers.
You clenched your jaw when you remembered why you were mad again. “I know what I saw, Dick,” you spat back and pushed Dick’s hand away from your face.
The scene of your best friend sitting on Dick’s lap with her nose buried deep in the crook of his neck was forever burned into your memory. You had never felt so sick before, it was a surprise you didn’t threw up right then and there and ruined your best friend’s birthday party.
At second thought, though. You should have.
“She was sad! I tried to cheer her up, babe. It was her birthday party after all.” Dick gave you his innocent smile. Like a golden retriever puppy that could do no wrong.
“There was absolutely zero reason for her to be in your fucking lap.” You narrowed your eyes and stabbed your finger into his chest multiple times.
Dick pursed his bottom lip and shrugged, catching your finger in his hand. “It always worked when you were upset.”
“I’m your girlfriend, she’s not.”
“She’s your best friend. I thought you wanted me to be nice to her too!”
Your eye twitched and it was getting harder for you to control yourself and not just slap this stupid man in front of you. “Okay. Why was she upset about and why did she told you and not me?”
You decided to play into Dick’s lies. You knew your best friend wasn’t upset, because the way she sat on Dick’s lap looked more like she was in heat, rather than sad. She even kissed his neck, goddamnit!
“Her talking-stage didn’t show up at the party.” Dick lied smoothly while his arms sneaked around your waist to pull you closer. “I just tried to be a good friend and give her a shoulder to lean on.”
“Or a neck to suck on.” You hissed back and tried to push away Dick’s arms but he didn’t budge a little. There was a small hickey peeking out of Dick’s collar and it made your blood boil.
“I guess she got carried away.” Dick shrugged with a grin and pulled you in tighter, your chest was pressed against his. On arm stayed wrapped around your waist while he sneaked his hand up your back and into your hair.
“I would never cheat on you.” Dick whispered softly. He tugged your head back to make you looked at him. The anger inside of you melted away almost immediately the moment your eyes met.
Dick was lying, you knew that.
He had been unfaithful once, twice… You just chose to forget about it.
“I love you, sweetheart.” Dick spoke tenderly before he leaned down and kissed away the tears on your cheeks. It was absurd how Dick would be the reason for your pain and also be the one to comfort you afterwards too.
“I will always come back to you.” Dick said with a soft smile on his lips and your face cradled in his hands. He knew you were stupid enough to forgive him.
Over and over again.
But he still loved you, right? Why else would he be coming back to you like this?
“You shouldn’t be angry at your best friend either, yeah?” Dick wiped away the last remains of your tears off your cheeks, smiling wildly when you gave him a small nod.
He had you right where he wanted. Wrapped around his finger and emotional tied to him.
“How long have you two been friends?” He asked innocently while fixing your beautiful hair. Dick might not be able to keep it in his pants but there was no doubt you were attractive to him.
“7 years,” you answered with a shaky voice.
“See, you don’t want these 7 years go to waste for one poorly made choice, do you?” Dick said, humming satisfied when you nodded again.
“Let’s go home. I think you need the comfort of our bed and some good cuddles.” He pulled you towards the main street and you let him. What else could you do?
Love made you stupid.
