Tweety hadn't MEANT to get himself into trouble. He really, truly hadn't. He had just told Granny he was going out for a quick fly around the neighborhood like he usually did when trouble once again seemed to find him.
An alleycat, a big MEAN nasty one, had been following Tweety's every move, eagerly licking his lips as he waited for the perfect moment to get the lone bird. When Tweety had turned into a corner, that was when the alleycat saw perfect a moment to strike.
Tweety was knocked out of the air by a paw slamming into him, causing the canary to harshly crash onto the ground. The impact was so abrupt and hard that it left Tweety seeing stars. He pushed himself up dizzily, immediately getting ready to take off into the air again before a paw pinned him into place.
"Look what we got here" the alleycat breathed in delight, nothing but pure hunger on his face. "A tasty little treat all for me."
"Let me go you bad ol' puddy tat!" Tweety yelled, glaring at the cat holding him and doing his best to peck the paw covering his body as hard as he could. Unfortunately, that only made the cat squeeze the bird harder in response, causing a pained gasp from Tweety to be released.
"Shut yer trap bird." The cat growled. An idea suddenly came to his mind. "Actually...why don't we fix that?"
Tweety didn't have time to ask what he meant by that because the cat lifted him up slightly from off the ground before slamming him back into it, causing the bird's world to immediately go black.
The cat grinned as he watched Tweety's fall into unconsciousness. Made things much easier for him to deal with. He lifted the bird by the tail, preparing to drop the helpless canary into his wide open mouth...
Only for an absolutely SNARLING black and white blur to slam the alleycat into the wall with a large shout of "GET AWAY FROM HIM!"
The pure force caused the alleycat to lose his grip on Tweety, who would have fallen to the ground if not for another blur--this time one of brown and white--to catch Tweety in their arms before the bird could hit.
When the ringing in his ears stopped and his vision cleared, the alleycat could see who his attacker was clearly. None other than chronic chaser of birds Sylvester J. Pussycat himself.
And he looked FURIOUS.
The alleycat jerked his head past the cat holding him to the wall to see where his lost meal had gone to, only to see him swept up in the arms of none other than the Fastest Mouse in All of Mexico, Speedy Gonzales. An equally angered expression was on the mouse's face as he carefully cradled the unconscious Tweety in his arms.
"You're both gonna pay for that," the alleycat growled, struggling to break free of Sylvester's hold on him.
Sylvester didn't bother to answer, instead turning his head to where Speedy was and nodding at him. "Speedy...get Tweety out of here NOW." He turned back to the alleycat, an absolute vicious expression of glee making its way onto his face. "I'll handle this guy."
"You got it, mi gatita fuerte!" Speedy smiled, looking at his pussycat partner with fond determination. Carefully adjusting Tweety in his arms to make sure the canary was comfortable, he took off in a blur of dust. Sylvester turned around to smile a bit at where Speedy had left before turning back to the alleycat, the schadenfreude glee making its way back onto his face. "Now, where were we?"
The alleycat gulped, knowing he was in for a VERY severe beating from a VERY angered partner.
---
Speedy didn't stop running until he was sure he was a further distance away. Reaching a sidewalk near Granny's house, he decided that it was safe enough before stopping his run. He sat down, gently guiding Tweety's head against his shoulder as he patted the canary's cheek carefully, trying to get him to wake.
"Oh, mi parajito..." Speedy murmured sadly, gently placing his own forehead against Tweety's. "I am so so sorry for not getting there on time."
Thankfully, that was when Tweety began to stir, shifting a little in Speedy's arms as a soft groan left his beak. His eyes fluttered open, and while things appeared rather blurry at first, his vision slowly began to clear up and he saw who was holding him.
"....Speedy?"
"Tweety!" Speedy exclaimed, quickly but carefully settling Tweety upright. He quickly checked over for any injuries Tweety might have sustained. "Are you alright? Are you hurt? Do you feel well?"
Tweety blushed a little at Speedy's inspection...especially at how tender the mouse was being with him. "Y-yes! I'm fine, don't worry about me, Speedy!" He blushed even further at Speedy's relieved smile. Oh, this mouse did things to him alright.
"That's good to hear!" Speedy sighed in relief, carefully wrapping an arm around Tweety's shoulder. "I was rather worried when I got to the scene. You were out like a light my friend!"
Tweety huffed a bit in annoyance, crossing his arms in a pout that both Speedy and Sylvester had always found rather adorable. "That wasn't my fault! That bad ol Puddy Tat cheated!"
Si, he did," the mouse agreed. "That gringo pussygato knew you'd be able to run circles around him rather easily," Speedy gently turned Tweety's cheek to get the bird to face him. "You always do."
Tweety tried to say something, anything at all, but the words seemed to die on his tongue as he stared into Speedy's warm and knowing eyes. Before anything else could happen, loud and heavy footsteps interrupted both mouse and canary's train of thoughts, causing the two of them to turn towards where they came from.
It was Sylvester, who had just come back from his absolute pummeling of the alleycat. He looked more than bruised and cut up, but appeared to be extremely proud of himself. "I don't think that alleycat will be bothering you again, Sunshine." He looked at Speedy, a knowing grin on his face. "Speedy here taking good care of you?"
"Puddy!" Tweety blushed, hiding his face in his hands. Sylvester chuckled at Tweety's reaction, sitting down on Tweety's other side, and nuzzling the bird. "You know we love you right?"
"You two make that clear every day," Tweety muttered into his hands, still hiding his incredibly blushing face.
"And we'll make it even clearer!" Speedy declared. Nodding slyly at Sylvester, the two worked to take one of Tweety's hand in each of their own, causing Tweety to lift his face up in surprise...meaning he was completely unprepared for when both gave him a gentle, loving kiss on each feathered cheek.
Tweety's face went tomato red, blushing even more than he had previously. He buried himself into the nearest place available....which just so happened to be Sylvester's chest.
Sylvester cooed lovingly at the sight, opening his side a bit more to let Speedy in as well. Speedy wasted no time in also burying himself in the cat's chest, making sure to burrow in as close to Tweety as possible.
"Let's go home you two," Sylvester grinned. Gathering up his tiny partners close to his chest, he took off down the sidewalk, heading back to Granny's house with a merry skip in his step.
