Screams. All he could hear was screams.
And it sounded wonderful.
Grox grinned as he kept firing his gun, watching as villagers fell limp to the floor with gunshoot woulds coming out of their heads. He rarely ever missed.
He walked forward, going through a pool of blood from a nearby body. But he didn't pay any care to it. Or to the blood getting all over his suit.
The only thing bubbling in his mind was
Find.
Aim.
Shoot.
Repeat.
A simple yet so vicous cycle for the ones who were receiving it.
Did Grox care when they begged for mercy? When they cried and shook and tried to run? No. It just made this all more fun for him.
...
Did he care though?
No of course not! Why woud he think such a stupid thing
Grox laughed manicaly as the villager on the ground in front of him tried to crawl away, incoherent pleas and begging coming from their mouth. He paid no care for it, and aimed the gun at their head.
A peircing bang sounded out as the bullet sunk into the villagers head, blood spraying all over the sadistic tryant. It only made him grin wider
Find.
Aim.
Shoot.
Repeat.
There was another villager nearby. Obviously trying to hide, and failing miserably.
Grox laughed at the pathetic attempt and strolled over, twirling his gun in his hand. The way that the villager looked at him with so much fear felt intoxicating.
Again, he aimed his gun at the villagers head, finger always on the trigger.
...
Should he really be doing this though?
The thought made him falter for a fraction of a split second, and that surprised him. What the hell was going on with him today?
That villager was still cowering on the ground, not seeing the hesitation in Grox.
Good.
Another bang went off, but Grox did smile as much that time. The small grin he gave already felt forced.
Fuck- what the hell was wrong with him today?? These stupid thoughts wouldn't stop plauging his mind!
Just ignore it. It'll leave eventually.
Find.
Aim.
Shoot.
Repeat.
Find.
Aim.
Shoot.
Repeat.
Over and over again. It was muscle memory at this point. Had been for a long time. So why did it start to feel wrong?
Those stupid thoughts kept coming back, and it disgusted Grox at how much he was hessitating now. A villager had almost gotten away because of his pause, but he had shot them before they got very far.
He saw something move in his peripheral vision, and turned to see what it was. The villager had ran, then tripped over something on the ground. Probably another body.
It should have made Grox laugh. Grin and taunt the villager. But he didn't
He walked over to the villager, and was disgusted at how his hand was shaking with his gun. He wanted to do this! He loved seeing the fear and horror on the villagers faces. It made him fee alive
So what the hell was wrong?
Aiming the gun at the villager, he choose to ignore how much his hand was shaking.
The villager looked terrified. I mean, who wouldn't be when there's a blood covered tyrant standing in front of you?
That terror didn't make Grox feel good. It just made him sick.
"...get out of here." Grox muttered, putting hus gun back in its holster "before I change my mind"
Weak
Weak
Weak.
The villager just looked at him in shock. Grox giving mercy? Unheard of
"I TOLD YOU, GET OUT!" Grox yelled, causing the villager to panic and scramble upright, running away.
Once Grox was sure the villager was gone, he let out a scream of anger at himself.
Stupid!! Why the hell would he do that!? Giving mercy? That was unheard of from him!
Letting out another yell of annoyance, Grox kicked a stone and watched it fly through the air, almost hitting a frog hybrid in the face.
FroggyDude let out a startled yelp as the stone flew by, eyes snapping to the tyrant that was glaring at him. "You good there? Could have given me a concussion!"
Grox stared for a second in mild surprise at the frogs presence. But then scowled and rolled his eyes, crossing his arms "And why are you here Froggy? Trying to kill me again"
Froggy frowned slightly, no 'Ayo Chill!' from Grox, plus his voice sounded duller. Strange
He shrugged "I follow you around when you go to random villages. You kill them and then I eat the corpses."
"Wait, you do what?" Grox asked, uncrossing his arms. He had heard that Froggy had managed to control his rabies, only eating courpsesand the occasional player.
As much as the two rivaled, Grox couldn't help but feel slightly glad the frog was here. It was destracting him from those guilty thoughts
..
is that what they were? His guilt?
"I mean, would you rather me going on a rampage?" Froggy asked, leaning down and ripping an arm off of the nearby courpse.
Damn that frog was strong
"Eh, it's pretty entertaining when I'm not the one you're trying to kill"
"...speaking of kill," Froggy started, before biting into the severed arm and ripping away part of it with a wet rip, "why didn't you kill that villager earlier?"
Grox tensed slightly, surprising Froggy even more "..you saw that" The whither skeleton muttered
Froggy shrugged, taking another bite from the arm "I mean yeah. Pretty hard to miss the great tryant have mercy on someone" he smirked.
"Shut up." Grox snapped, death glaring Froggy "You didn't see anything. Never happened"
"Jeez, can a guy not ask some questions?" Froggy sighed dramatically, continuing to eat the arm. Blood streamed down his chin, staining the already blood drenched suit he had one. He almost had more blood on him then Grox did
"It's none of your business." Grox muttered as he leaned against a crumbling villager house.
It bubbled up again.
Find.
Aim.
Shoot.
Repeat.
Grox wanted to scream at himself again. Of fucing course he couldn'd kill a damn villager, but felt like he could easily kill the one person that willingly talked to him.
That gave him a break from having to rule, even for a bit
"uh.. helloooo??? Earth to Grox?" Froggy said, snapping his fingers in the tyrants face. "You good man?"
Grox blinked violently for a second, snapping out of the trance. Had he zoned out again? Well fuck
"Back up" Grox muttered, batting Froggy's hand out of his face "and I'm fine."
He just wished all these thoughts would go away. The good and bad ones.
Hell, he couldn't even tell which was which anymore. Everything just felt wrong.
Froggy shrugged and stepped back "Alright then, if you say so.."
But Grox wasn't even listening, he had completely zoned out again. Staring at the direction that stupid villager had run off to.
Find-
He yelled out in frustration, throwing his gun as hard as he could. It landed in the ruins of a villagers house with a loud Thud
Froggy yelped in surprise from the sudden outburst, stepping back "Shit- What the hell was that for!? You scared the life out of me!"
Grox rolled his eyes and started walking over to the rubble where his gun as landed. It was probably dented from how hard he threw it.
Why had he even done that? These thoughts had never bothered him before. In fact, he usally enjoyed them. Having had them all his life, he got used to it.
Because you're just weak.
"...you sure you're alright?" Froggy asked, walking up behind Grox.
Grox raised an eyebrow, when had Froggy ever been this concerned before? "Ayo chill, I'm fine!" He said with a smirk, grabbing his gun out of the rubble. It didn't look damaged thankfully.
"You are a terrible liar" Froggy muttered, looking around for another corpse to eat off of. That arm he had before was gone, Grox wondered if the frog had eaten the bone as well.
"What do you mean? I ain't lying about anything" Grox said, still checking his gun. He knew it was fine, but he just needed to keep his mind distracted
Froggy scowled, going over to another body and crouching down, ripping off a leg this time. The gore didn't bother Grox at all, he saw it everyday.
At least usally it didn't, but this time the sound of flesh ripping sent a shiver down his spine.
"uh- anyway! I gotta go.. deal with more villages" Grox muttered, putting his gun backin its holster.
"...are you okay?" Froggy asked quietly. Grox tensed, why the fuck was that frog being so nice!? Was he trying to manipulate him or some shit?
Grox chuckled, smirking at Froggy "Chill, I'm fine bro. Go back to being a cannible or whatever"
No.
I'm not okay.
I don't know why I feel this way.
It hurts.
I can't stop these stupid thoughts.
These fucking voices.
Maybe it's why I'm like this.
This messed up horrible person.
Please just help-
"Fucking hell, Grox!" Froggy yelled, shaking Grox's shoulders "Snap out of it!!"
Grox lurched back violently, his eyes wide and breathing hard.
Shit, he was shaking again as well. Wasn't he?
"I need to go." Grox said in a rush, stumbling back once more, before turning and running away.
You don't run.
Stop running.
You look weak.
"Shut up Shut up Shut up" Grox muttered repeatedly at himself. Still running.
His legs felt like jelly.
*_*
After what felt like hours, Grox came to a shaky stop. He was in the middle of a dark oak forrest, how he got here was still a blur
Just running, and snark comments, and more running.
Thankfully though he wasn't to lost, he knew that there was a dark oak biome about 200 blocks from his castle. Hopefully this was the right forrest, if it wasn't he had no idea how far away he was.
Walking for a few minutes, he finally found a tall tree. If he could climb it, then maybe he would be able to see-
A rustling sound from a nearby bush caught Grox's attention, and suddenly he sank back into that same loop. At was funny, really. He was shaking and panicking before, but now he was just back in that trance. Maybe he'd laugh about it later
Find.
Slowly Grox made his way over to where the noise was coming from, taking his gun out again. He didn't need to turn off the safety, it's never on in the first place.
A fox jumped out of the bush, playing with what looked like the feather of a chicken. It didn't see Grox, as his dark apperance made him blend in well with all the shade.
Aim.
It wasn't to difficult since the Fox was so close. His hand was still shaking subtly, but not enough to effect his aim at all.
Shoot.
A grin played on his face as his finger thumbed the trigger. He stepped forward, purposely making himself knowing to the fox. It didn't have any time to react though, as the loud CRACK of the gunshot echoed in the forest.
The bullet had gone straight through the head, killing it immediately. Sure he was a monster, but he never put any animal though extra suffering unless needed to.
Repeat.
Grox looked around for any other mobs, hostile or not. But annoyingly enough, there seemed to be none around. Gunshot must have scared them all off.
..
He sighed and put his gun back in its holster, before looking back down at the dead fox. The sight of all the blood made him cringe, and that took him back slightly. What was with all these switches lately? Sure he'd deal with smaller ones every now and then, but nothing like what had happened in the last few hours.
You're just being paranoid.
There's nothing wrong.
Grox's breathing stuttered for a moment at it's words, before a smile crept onto his face. Then a grin.
He started laughing, it sounded manic and tired and scared all at the same time. He kept laughing as it echoed through the forest, he kept laughing even after his throat became sore and dry.
The only reason he stopped was because his vocal cords had just given out. He sighed, still smiling painfully and wiped away the tears that had started to fall halfway through his laughing fit.
Fuck, how long had be been laughing for? An hour at least.
Whatever, he didn't need to think about that right now. All he needed to do now was find his way back home.
Grox sighed again, though more quietly, and walked back over to that tall tree on shaking legs.
How he managed to climb it, he didn't even remember. The fact that his legs hadn't given out on his way up though was surprising.
After looking around for a bit, he spotted the faint outline of his empire a couple hundred blocks away. It would be a bit of a walk, but Grox didn't mind. Maybe the walkwould clear out his head.
So he climbed back down the tree, again surprised but greatful that his legs didn't give out on the way.
And he started to walk back to his empire. Where these stupid thoughts of doubt would hopefully disintegrate.
Just homesick.
That's all it is.
Yeah, that's all it was. Just homesickness.
There was nothing wrong with him. He wasn't weak, or a coward, or any of that stupid stuff.
He would go home, and it would all be fine again.
And it would be just fine.
