Chapter Text
First off, spoilers for Deltarune chapter 5, a lot of spoilers, so if you didn’t play it or watch it leave now.
Now, we all know there’s no such thing as a “knife route” in Deltarune. But if there was one, then this chapter would be a guide on how to begin it :
1) Fully do the weird route in chapter 2. If the route isn’t started, or is aborted before Berdly gets snowgraved, you would be locked out of the knife route.
2)During the chapter 3… nothing specific needs to be done. But during chapter 4, you need to get out of the weird route at the last possible moment (choosing ‘sorry, it was a prank’ instead of ‘it isn’t a coincidence’). Quitting earlier or not quitting at that exact point locks you out, as… well, Kris needs to be mentally ‘prepared’ (no spoilers!)
3) If everything is done correctly, during the first Aqua fight, if you keep forcing your soul to go down below the items you have in your inventory (or, if you had no items, if you spam the item button)… well, among other weapons, you’ll meet an old item that Kris SHOULD have thrown away when given the chance.
Now, this route, if it existed, would be rough. Lots of major character death, and taking advantage of Aqua’s innocence for nefarious deeds, so if you dislike that, leave, this isn’t a wholesome fictive route.
Starting with next chapter, the narration will be in universe, I just didn’t know how to properly narrate in universe the steps of the knife route without retracing known dialogues for four chapters, when only one chapter has interesting stuff happening, so I opted with the tutorial-esque way of explaining.
Also, when referring to the soul, some characters will use the pronoun ‘It’, capitalized for the sake of reading comprehension, while others will use they/them, depending if the character sees the soul as a person (for ‘they/them’), or as a calamity(‘for It’).
Finally, the POV will change a lot during the fanfic, since… well, I’m taking inspiration from the weird route and the genocide route, both of which are quite boring, so the POV nearest to the player would have a lot of grinding, so if I want to tell anything interesting, I need to tell the side of the story other characters have.
… Anyways, now that we know how to head nowhere good, let us proceed onward, shall we?
