Chapter Text

Michael 'Robby' Robinavitch

Robbys night shift was finally over, and damn was he looking forward to coming home. It had been one of those nights shifts, where the hours seemed to stretch for twice as long then they should have, and by the time he was walking out and back home all Robby wanted was a warm shower to wash away the germs and grim, something to eat before falling into bed for the next several hours, and you.

He unlocked the door with ease and stepped inside. “Baby?” He called out, but got no response. He frowned a little, kicking his shoes off before throwing his keys into the bowl by the door. ‘I’m home!” He said into the quietness of the house, and still the man got nothing.

Then like heaven washing over him, he heard your little giggles coming from the bedroom. Robby followed the sound, and pushed open the bedroom doors, and promptly stopped dead in his tracks.

There you were standing in front of the body length mirror, adjusting the thin straps of the new dress you had just purchased a few days and apparently hadn’t told Robby about. It was simple little thing. A cami dress at first glance that looked like soft fabric, flattering your silhouette perfectly, with thing straps over your shoulders.

Then you turned around, and Robby is pretty sure his brain just stopped working altogether. The functioning it going down the drain when he was met with your entire back exposed to the open. He blinked, and then swallowed around nothing but dryness.

You caught his reaction in the reflection of the mirror. “Hi.” Robby was staring, hard at this point. You smiled sweetly, “Hi.” He said back, “Long day?'‘ You asked noticing the dark circles under his eyes were more visible. “Yeah.” He muttered but didn’t dare move, you turned around fully now.

“You okay?” You asked fauxing your innocence. Robby finally shut the bedroom door behind him “Yeah.” He said quietly, almost like it was to himself. A pause, “Just wasn’t expecting all that…” Robby said gesturing with his hand.

You looked down at yourself, “what? Te dress?” You asked, “Yeah the dress.” Robby walked closer to you, letting his eyes linger on you for just a moment before he was deliberately looking at just your face. “Do you like it?”

“I love it.” Robby says rather quickly, the blush was starting to grow over the tops of his cheeks. “Good.” You watched as Robby’s mouth twitched with possible excitement. “Even thought it seems Tiktok has made it’s personal mission to attack me.” You laugh, “Anyways I knew you’d like it.”

Robby takes a step back, and slots himself behind you. Looking at the dress again just through the mirror this time. “You bought this little ole thing cause you saw it on Tiktok?” Robby asks, “Someone had posted some try-on video.” You tell him, he hums “Of course they did.” You roll your eyes but continue telling him, “After that I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

Robby nods in understanding. “Are you making fun of me?” You tease, “I’m not.” He mumbles, “You totally are!” You say turning around, “I’m just admiring your very good, and excellent purchasing skills.” You laugh again, and so does Robby. His hands settle on both sides of your waist, “You’re beautiful.” All the teasing has disappeared from his voice.

You look up at him. “Really?” He nods, brushing away a strand of loose hair away from your face. “You know, sometimes I think you don’t realize just how pretty you are, baby.” He mutters, you melt in his hold. “You’re being biased.” You say.

Robby rolls his eyes, “Obviously.” He says with a smile, and kisses your forehead. “But I’m also right.” You lean into him once again, and wrap your arms around his middle. Robby holds you for a long moment, letting the entire nights shift exhaustion from his body drain away slowly.

Then glances at your over shoulder and back into the mirror. “Were you actually gonna wear this thing out?” He asks seriously. “I was thinking about it.” You whisper into his ear, making his shiver.

You notice the shift in his body immediately. Going from relaxed to concerned, “Where are you going wearing this?” You only laughed and shake your head at him, “Nowhere, silly goose.” Robby lets out a sigh, “Good.”

“Robby?” He hums, “You’re being ridiculous.” “Am not.” He argues, but gives you a small grin. "“I just happen to think that my girlfriend looks very good right now.” You look at him through your lashes, “Is that all?” You ask, “That’s all.”

You looked at him with utter shock. He sighs giving in easily to you. “Fine, You do look absolutely incredible.” You smile, “That’s better now.” Robby leans in and kisses you, and when he pulls back you’re still smiling, “You really like it?” You ask, “I really like you.” Robby says with a wink.

He’s said it many other ways before, but this is the simple way and it makes your teasing expression melt away. Then he’s looking at the dress in the mirror again, “Yeah I do really like the dress.” Turn again in his hold, your back pressed into his chest.

“I wasn’t too sure about the open back.” You mumble. Robby stops you before you can even continue. “Don’t be.” He rushes to say. His hands coming up to rest on your shoulders, “It looks amazing on you.” You smile at the reflection of the two of you in the mirror.

“Especially cause you picked it, baby.” He mutters into your ear. You turn around quickly and wrap your arms around Robby. Hugging him tightly. Robby melts in your touch, and wraps his own arms around you as well. “Come on.” He murmurs, “Let’s get some dinner.”

“Still thinkin’ about the dress?” You tease. “No.” He answers far to quickly to not be lying straight through his teeth. There’s a beat of silence. “Okay… maybe just a little.” You laughed agasint his chest, and he smiles down at you.

When you finally make your way down the stairs, with Robby following behind you. You can sense his eyes falling down your body. You even catch him every so soften looking at the back of your dress when you make it into the kitchen. Every single time, almost like clockwork you pretend he wasn’t.

You don’t believe Robby for one second.
